Summary

This GCC-spec performance crossover represents the high-water mark for the model range, pairing a potent twin-turbo V6 with all-wheel-drive confidence. While many rivals stick to four-cylinder power, this ST trim offers a substantial performance gap and a more engaging chassis setup. The red exterior is a bold choice that stands out in a sea of white and silver SUVs, yet remains a respected secondary color for resale in the local market. For a GCC buyer, the standard ventilated seats and heavy-duty cooling system are essential for maintaining peak performance and cabin comfort during the height of summer. This listing is particularly strong for those who need family practicality but aren't ready to sacrifice mechanical soul.

This Car vs Other 2022 Edges

With 110,162 km on the odometer, this car is slightly above the typical GCC annual average of 25,000 km, but it has been kept in its original GCC specification. This ensures full compatibility with local fuel grades and high-ambient cooling requirements that imported models often lack. The red paintwork is a premium aesthetic choice that retains value well for enthusiast-oriented trims like the ST.

ST vs Lower Trims

The ST is the only trim in the lineup to feature the 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine, providing a massive jump from the 250 hp found in the ST-Line and Titanium models. Beyond the power, this trim adds a sport-tuned suspension, 21-inch wheels, and bolstered leather seats with Miko inserts. You also get the full B&O premium sound system and a 360-degree camera as standard, features often optional or absent on the SE and SEL trims.

Edge vs Segment Rivals

The ST leads competitors like the Chevrolet Blazer and Honda Pilot in pure torque delivery, making it significantly more responsive for highway overtaking. While the Toyota Highlander offers more seats, the Edge provides superior second-row legroom and a massive 1,110-litre boot that handles family road trips across the emirates with ease. Its 515 Nm of torque ensures it never feels strained even when fully loaded.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this high-output V6 typically averages 11.1 L/100km on the highway, rising to approximately 14 L/100km in stop-start city traffic. Service intervals are generally every 10,000 km or 6 months at authorized centers like Al Tayer, which have a robust presence across the UAE and the wider GCC. The ST trim holds its value better than mid-range trims due to its status as the performance flagship, though buyers should expect standard American-brand depreciation curves of 12-15% annually.

Performance & Capability

The 335 hp twin-turbo V6 delivers an official 0-100 km/h time of approximately 6.1 to 7.0 seconds depending on conditions, offering punchy acceleration for the fast-moving highways of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The All-Wheel Drive system is tuned for road-biased grip rather than desert dune bashing, providing excellent stability during the occasional rainstorm or on gravel tracks. Selectable drive modes, including a dedicated Sport mode, sharpen the transmission shifts and throttle response for a more connected feel.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a five-seat sanctuary designed for the heat, featuring dual-zone climate control with dedicated rear vents and ventilated front seats. The 12.1-inch vertical touchscreen running SYNC 4A provides seamless wireless smartphone integration, while acoustic glass helps isolate the interior from road noise at high speeds. Long-distance comfort is a priority, with power-adjustable seating and a flat-folding rear bench for maximum cargo flexibility.

Safety

Equipped with the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite, this model includes Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking and Blind Spot Monitoring, which is vital for multi-lane highway driving. It also features Lane-Keeping Assist and a 360-degree camera to simplify parking in tight urban spaces. The 5-star safety rating is bolstered by a comprehensive airbag system, including side-curtain coverage for both rows.

The bottom line

This 2022 ST is the perfect choice for a driver who needs a practical GCC-spec family SUV but demands the power and character of a twin-turbo V6. It represents a rare opportunity to own the performance peak of the model range in a striking color that defies the ordinary.
