Summary

This 2022 Ford Edge ST represents a high-performance choice for buyers who need SUV practicality without sacrificing driving dynamics. With mileage sitting around the 67,000 km mark, it has been driven slightly above the GCC annual average, making it an accessible entry point into the premium ST performance bracket. The Black exterior is one of the most sought-after colors for resale in the UAE, providing a stealthy aesthetic that perfectly complements the ST-specific body styling. As a GCC-spec model, it is fully optimized for the local climate, ensuring the dual-zone cooling and engine cooling systems perform reliably through peak summer. This is an ideal cross-emirate commuter for those who value the safety of All Wheel Drive and the overtaking power of a twin-turbo V6.

This Car vs Other 2022 Ford Edges

At 67,414 km, this vehicle’s mileage is typical for a performance SUV in the GCC, where long-distance highway commutes between Dubai and Abu Dhabi are common. While many standard Edges of this year feature the entry-level 2.0L engine, this ST model offers significantly higher mechanical capability and a more robust cooling system suited for high-speed highway runs. The black finish remains a top-tier choice for local resale, ensuring better value retention compared to less popular or niche colors.

ST vs Lower Trims

The ST is the performance flagship, replacing the standard 2.0L four-cylinder with a potent 2.7L twin-turbo V6. Beyond the engine, the ST adds a Ford Performance-tuned suspension, 20-inch wheels, and a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium audio system that isn't standard on lower trims like the SEL. Interior upgrades include unique bolstered bucket seats with Miko inserts and steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters for a more engaged driving experience.

Edge vs Segment Rivals

The Ford Edge ST occupies a unique space, offering more power than the Nissan Murano and a more focused driver experience than the Honda Passport. Its standard All Wheel Drive system provides superior grip on gravel and during heavy rain compared to front-wheel-drive competitors. While rivals focus on soft rides, the ST leads the segment in acceleration and highway stability, making it the preferred choice for enthusiasts who still need 1,111 liters of boot space.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.7L V6 typically averages around 11.1 L/100km, which is efficient for a high-output V6 during long GCC highway drives. Ford’s extensive authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia ensures that maintenance and parts availability remain straightforward and cost-effective. The Edge ST generally retains about 50% of its value after three years in the GCC market, performing competitively against other American and European performance crossovers.

Performance & Capability

The 335 hp twin-turbo V6 delivers an impressive 0–100 km/h time of 6.3 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power for high-speed UAE motorways. The Intelligent All Wheel Drive system with Disconnect technology optimizes efficiency by disengaging the rear axle when extra traction isn't required. With a braked towing capacity of up to 1,588 kg when properly equipped, it is as capable for weekend trips as it is for the daily school run.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Edge ST features a spacious 5-seat layout with dual-zone automatic climate control specifically engineered to handle 45°C+ temperatures. The cabin is centered around a massive 12-inch vertical touchscreen with SYNC 4A, providing seamless wireless integration for smartphones. The ST-exclusive sport seats provide excellent lateral support, while acoustic glass helps insulate the cabin from wind noise during fast-paced highway travel.

Safety

This trim includes the full Ford Co-Pilot360 suite, featuring Blind Spot Monitoring with Cross-Traffic Alert, which is essential for multi-lane highway driving in the region. Standard safety systems also include Lane-Keeping Assist, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, and a Rear View Camera. The robust All Wheel Drive system adds an extra layer of stability during sand-swept road conditions or sudden coastal storms.

The bottom line

This Ford Edge ST is a perfect match for the professional who needs a practical family SUV but refuses to compromise on performance and highway presence.
