Summary

This 2022 Defender 90 X-DYNAMIC SE P300 offers a compelling entry into the modern Defender family, combining the iconic short-wheelbase agility with a contemporary aesthetic. Finished in a strong resale-friendly black, this European-spec model features the X-Dynamic styling pack that adds a more rugged, premium look compared to the standard SE. With 92,000 km, it has been driven regularly across typical highway distances, a common profile for GCC-based vehicles that ensures the mechanical components have been kept in active use. The P300 powertrain provides a balanced 300 hp, offering enough punch for the city while remaining more efficient than the larger V8 for daily commuting. It stands out in the UAE market for its blend of off-road heritage and high-tech cabin refinement.

This Car vs Other 2022 Defender 90s

With 92,000 km on the odometer, this Defender has seen average to slightly high usage for its age in the GCC, where 20,000–25,000 km per year is standard for many commuters. The black exterior is one of the most sought-after colors in the local used market, ensuring faster resale and better value retention than more niche shades. Being the X-DYNAMIC SE trim, it offers a more aggressive exterior appearance and higher interior specification than the base S or SE models commonly found in the region.

X-DYNAMIC SE vs Lower Trims

The X-Dynamic SE trim bridges the gap between utility and luxury by adding premium LED headlights with signature DRLs and the powerful 700W Meridian Surround Sound System, which is a significant upgrade over the standard 400W unit. Inside, you benefit from 12-way electronic memory seats and an electrically adjustable steering column, features that offer much-needed convenience for multiple drivers in the GCC. The exterior is distinguished by Satin Dark Grey finishes and X-Dynamic specific badging that commands a higher premium at resale.

Defender 90 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon or Ford Bronco, the Defender 90 leads with its superior on-road refinement and sophisticated Pivi Pro infotainment system. Its unibody construction provides a quieter cabin during high-speed highway cruises between emirates, while the air suspension (where equipped) offers a more comfortable ride than its ladder-frame competitors. The 360° camera system with 'transparent hood' technology provides a technical advantage in tight urban parking and technical off-road maneuvers alike.

Running Costs & Resale

The P300 engine typically sees real-world fuel consumption between 11.2 and 12.2 L/100km, making it a relatively sensible choice for the GCC’s stop-start traffic and long desert stretches. While European-spec vehicles may require independent warranty packages in the UAE, the Land Rover service network is extensive across all major GCC cities including Dubai, Riyadh, and Muscat. The Defender continues to show strong value retention in the local market, typically depreciating slower than other luxury European SUVs due to sustained high demand.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 300 hp 2.0L turbocharged engine, this Defender 90 accelerates from 0–100 km/h in approximately 7.1 seconds, providing ample power for overtaking on fast-moving highways like the E11. It retains serious off-road credentials with a maximum ground clearance of 291 mm and a wading depth of up to 900 mm when the suspension is fully raised. The short wheelbase makes it exceptionally capable in technical dune driving and easy to maneuver in crowded city centers.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the GCC climate, featuring a powerful dual-zone climate control system and high-quality materials like Grained Leather and Robustec textile that resist wear from sand and heat. The 3-door configuration comfortably seats five, and the 10-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen remains one of the fastest and most intuitive systems in its class. Excellent sound insulation ensures the cabin remains a quiet sanctuary even during high-speed highway runs across the desert.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the X-Dynamic SE includes a full ADAS suite with Blind Spot Assist, Lane Keep Assist, and Rear Traffic Monitor, all of which are vital for safety on multi-lane GCC highways. The 3D Surround Camera provides a comprehensive view of the vehicle’s surroundings, while the six-airbag system and high-strength aluminum architecture provide top-tier occupant protection. Adaptive Speed Limiter and Traffic Sign Recognition further assist in maintaining safety during long-distance cross-border drives.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants the rugged icon in its most stylish 3-door form, this X-DYNAMIC SE is a well-maintained, high-spec choice that balances daily UAE usability with weekend adventure potential.
