Summary

This 2022 Range Rover HSE represents a significant step up in power and refinement, featuring the formidable 530 hp twin-turbo V8 engine that replaced the previous supercharged units. With seven seats, it offers a rare combination of high-capacity family utility and the flagship luxury expected of the brand. Its grey exterior is one of the most resilient colors for resale in the UAE and wider GCC, consistently performing well in the secondary market. For a buyer in the region, the combination of relatively low mileage for its age and the presence of the updated P530 powertrain makes it an exceptionally strong choice for high-speed highway cruising and urban presence. This model continues to lead the segment by offering a peerless balance of executive comfort and genuine off-road capability.

This Car vs Other 2022 Range Rovers

At 60,000 km, this vehicle sits below the average annual mileage typically seen for luxury SUVs in the GCC, where 25,000 km per year is common due to frequent inter-city travel. The grey exterior is a highly preferred choice in the local market, ensuring better heat management and stronger value retention than brighter or niche colors. While many 2022 models entered the market with the 6-cylinder engine, this V8 variant is the more sought-after configuration for those prioritizing effortless power.

HSE vs Lower Trims

The HSE trim provides a substantial luxury upgrade over the entry-level SE, most notably adding perforated Windsor leather and 20-way heated and ventilated electric front seats as standard. It also includes the high-resolution Head-Up Display and the advanced ClearSight interior rearview mirror, which are critical for visibility during heavy GCC traffic. Furthermore, the HSE trim on this P530 model ensures the inclusion of the more powerful Meridian 3D Surround Sound System.

Range Rover vs Segment Rivals

Against rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLS and BMW X7, the Range Rover stands out with its superior 295 mm maximum ground clearance and sophisticated all-wheel steering, which provides a tighter turning circle than many smaller crossovers. Its 750 Nm of torque outclasses the base V8 offerings from competitors, providing more authoritative overtaking power on the E11 highway. While the Germans focus on road-biased tech, this model maintains the lead in all-terrain versatility while matching them for interior opulence.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.4L twin-turbo V8 offers a combined fuel consumption of approximately 11.8L/100km, which is efficient for its class but will vary in GCC stop-start city traffic. Service intervals are typically every 13,000 km or 12 months, and while this is an American spec vehicle, specialized service centers across the UAE and Saudi Arabia are well-equipped to maintain these units. Depreciation for the new L460 generation has remained stable compared to previous models, though American spec cars generally trade at a slight adjustment relative to local GCC spec equivalents.

Performance & Capability

The standout figure is the 4.6-second 0–100 km/h sprint, enabled by the 530 hp BMW-sourced V8 engine that provides immense mid-range punch. This powertrain is paired with the Terrain Response 2 system, which automatically adjusts the air suspension and drivetrain for sand, gravel, or highway conditions. Whether navigating weekend desert trails or long-distance family trips across borders, the 750 Nm of torque ensures the vehicle never feels strained under full load.

Comfort & Cabin

Configured with seven seats, this Range Rover is a true multi-generational family cruiser, featuring dedicated climate zones for rear passengers to combat the extreme summer heat. The cabin is exceptionally quiet thanks to active noise cancellation and acoustic glass, providing a sanctuary during long drives between emirates. The Pivi Pro 13.1-inch curved glass touchscreen is intuitive and fast, managing everything from the ventilated seat settings to the 360-degree 3D surround camera.

Safety

This HSE trim is equipped with a comprehensive ADAS suite, including Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, and a Driver Condition Monitor. The Adaptive Cruise Control with Steering Assist is particularly valuable for the long, straight highways of the GCC, reducing fatigue while maintaining safe distances. Additionally, the standard 360-degree camera system with Wade Sensing provides confidence both in tight parking garages and during the occasional heavy rain floods seen in urban areas.

The bottom line

This V8-powered 7-seater is the ideal choice for a GCC buyer who needs the utility of a family SUV without sacrificing the prestige and performance of a flagship luxury vehicle.
