Summary

This 2022 Range Rover Sport SVR represents the high-performance peak of its generation, powered by the legendary supercharged V8 that is now increasingly rare. With mileage well under the typical 50,000 km expected for a two-year-old vehicle in the GCC, it offers a distinct advantage for buyers seeking a well-maintained performance SUV. The Blue exterior is a striking choice that holds strong appeal in the local market, standing out against more common monochrome tones while maintaining solid resale value. As the SVR trim, it combines track-honed chassis dynamics with the rugged capability Land Rover is known for, making it an ideal companion for high-speed highway commutes and weekend escapes across the Emirates. For the GCC owner, this vehicle provides the ultimate balance of status, raw power, and the cooling performance required for our extreme climate.

This Car vs Other 2022 Range Rover Sports

With just 57,544 km on the odometer, this SVR has been driven roughly in line with average annual use for a luxury performance vehicle in the UAE. While many examples of this year can be found with much higher highway mileage, this unit remains in a prime window for long-term ownership. The Blue finish is a premium aesthetic choice that often commands a quicker sale in the secondary market compared to entry-level colors.

SVR vs Lower Trims

The SVR is a significant leap over the HSE and Autobiography trims, featuring a bespoke 5.0L supercharged V8 tuned to 575 hp and an aggressive SVR-specific body kit with larger air intakes. Inside, you receive standard SVR Performance seats that offer superior lateral support and the high-end 19-speaker Meridian Surround Sound system. It also includes upgraded SVR-tuned electronic air suspension and high-performance Brembo brakes, which are optional or unavailable on lower trims.

Range Rover Sport vs Segment Rivals

The Range Rover Sport SVR faces competition from the BMW X5 M and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. While its rivals focus heavily on track precision, the SVR leads with a more emotive V8 exhaust note and superior off-road hardware, including the twin-speed transfer box for low-range capability. Its 104-litre fuel tank also provides a greater cruising range for long-distance travel between major GCC cities like Dubai and Riyadh.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.0L V8 averages around 12.8 L/100km on combined cycles, though city driving in heavy traffic will see this rise. As a European-spec model, it is essential to ensure it has been adapted for local high-temperature requirements; however, Land Rover's extensive authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia ensures parts and expert maintenance are readily available. The SVR retains its value better than standard trims in the GCC, typically depreciating at 12–15% annually due to its status as a top-tier performance model.

Performance & Capability

The 575 hp supercharged V8 allows for effortless highway overtaking and a blistering 4.5-second sprint to 100 km/h. Its advanced All-Wheel Drive system is paired with Terrain Response 2, which includes a dedicated Dynamic mode for sharp on-road handling and specific settings for sand and rock crawling. Whether navigating city traffic or high-speed desert highways, the SVR’s 700 Nm of torque provides immediate and authoritative power delivery.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a masterclass in performance luxury, featuring lightweight SVR Performance seats upholstered in premium Windsor leather. For the GCC climate, the multi-zone climate control system is exceptionally powerful, ensuring the interior remains chilled even during peak summer months. Tech highlights include the dual 10-inch Touch Pro Duo screens and a fully digital 12.3-inch driver display, providing a sophisticated environment for both the driver and four passengers.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the 2022 SVR includes a comprehensive suite of driver aids such as Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Mitigation, and a 360-degree Surround Camera system that is invaluable for parking in tight urban spaces. It also features High-Speed Emergency Braking and Blind Spot Assist, which are critical for navigating the fast-paced multi-lane highways typical of the GCC region.

The bottom line

This 2022 SVR is the perfect choice for a buyer who wants the loudest, fastest, and most prestigious version of the Range Rover Sport before the model's transition to smaller displacements.
