Summary

This 2022 GLS450 4MATIC offers a balanced combination of a refined inline-six engine and the spaciousness required for families in the GCC. The silver exterior is a top-tier choice for the region, known for maintaining strong resale value and hiding the dust typical of desert environments. Compared to the mid-sized GLE, this full-size SUV provides a genuine third row and superior presence on the road. With just under 97,000 km, it sits within the expected range for a luxury long-distance cruiser that has likely seen substantial highway use between emirates. For a buyer seeking the prestige of an S-Class in a versatile SUV body, this listing represents a well-rounded opportunity in the current market.

This Car vs Other 2022 GLS450s

With 96,798 km on the odometer, this vehicle’s mileage is average for a 2022 model year in the GCC, where annual distances of 25,000 km are standard due to frequent highway travel. The silver exterior is a highly strategic choice for the UAE and Saudi markets, consistently performing better at resale than bolder colors. As an American spec vehicle, it offers high equipment levels, though buyers should verify service history with local specialists to ensure it meets GCC climate standards.

4MATIC vs Lower Trims

The 4MATIC trim is the entry point to the GLS range but is significantly upgraded over the GLE 350, moving from a four-cylinder to a turbocharged 3.0L inline-six with EQ Boost. This trim includes the essential AIRMATIC air suspension and 4MATIC all-wheel drive as standard, features that are often optional on smaller models. It also provides the full-sized cabin experience with dual 12.3-inch digital displays and 64-color ambient lighting that define the modern Mercedes-Benz luxury experience.

GLS450 vs Segment Rivals

The GLS450 leads rivals like the BMW X7 and Range Rover in terms of third-row accessibility and overall cargo volume, which reaches up to 2,400 liters with all seats folded. Its 90-liter fuel tank is specifically advantageous for long-distance drives across the Arabian Peninsula, providing greater range than many competitors. The MBUX infotainment system is widely regarded as more intuitive for daily use in heavy traffic compared to the interfaces found in the Audi Q8 or Lexus LX.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this mild-hybrid powertrain typically averages 11.5 L/100km, which is efficient for a seven-seat SUV in GCC city traffic. Service intervals are recommended every 15,000 km, and Mercedes-Benz maintains one of the most comprehensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. While European luxury SUVs depreciate faster than Japanese equivalents, the GLS450 retains value better than the GLS580 due to its more fuel-efficient engine and lower maintenance costs.

Performance & Capability

The GLS450 produces 367 hp and 500 Nm of torque, enabling a manufacturer-claimed 0–100 km/h time of 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h. The AIRMATIC suspension allows the vehicle to raise its ground clearance, making it suitable for gravel tracks and sandy weekend getaways. A massive 3,493 kg towing capacity ensures you can easily haul boats or horse trailers between coastal cities.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, seven adults can travel comfortably across three rows, with dedicated climate control zones ensuring everyone stays cool during the intense summer heat. The cabin is exceptionally quiet thanks to acoustic glass that insulates passengers from wind noise during high-speed highway cruising. MBUX with voice control allows for hands-free adjustment of the temperature and navigation, a vital feature for safety in busy metropolitan traffic.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes a comprehensive suite of ADAS features such as Active Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and Crosswind Assist, which is particularly useful on exposed desert highways. The vehicle is equipped with nine airbags and a 360-degree camera system to assist in parking this large SUV in tight city spaces. The 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system provides constant monitoring of traction, ensuring stability on rain-slicked roads or loose sand surfaces.

The bottom line

This GLS450 is the ideal choice for a family requiring S-Class levels of refinement with the practical capability to handle the GCC's long-distance highway demands.
