Summary

This 2022 Nissan Armada SL offers a compelling blend of V8 power and premium family comfort at a time when the segment is rapidly shifting toward smaller turbocharged engines. With 81,589 km over 4 years, its usage is remarkably low for the GCC, where the average for full-size SUVs typically exceeds 100,000 km in this timeframe. The black exterior is a high-demand resale color in the local market, ensuring strong liquidity when you decide to upgrade. For the UAE and wider GCC buyer, this remains one of the most reliable body-on-frame platforms available, sharing its rugged mechanical DNA with the legendary Nissan Patrol. It is the ideal choice for those who need a dependable, long-distance cruiser capable of hauling a large family in total comfort.

This Car vs Other 2022 Armadas

At 81,589 km, this vehicle has averaged just over 20,000 km per year, which is below the typical 25,000 km annual average for large SUVs in the GCC. This lower-than-average mileage means less wear on the suspension and cooling systems, which face extreme stress in the regional heat. The black finish is a tier-one resale color in the UAE, providing a distinct value advantage over less common shades.

SL vs Lower Trims

The SL trim is widely considered the 'sweet spot' for GCC buyers, adding critical luxury features over the SV. You get a power sliding glass moonroof, leather-appointed seating, and the 13-speaker Bose premium audio system which significantly improves the cabin experience. Most importantly for local parking and tight city maneuvers, the SL introduces the Intelligent Around View 360-degree monitor.

Armada vs Segment Rivals

The Armada stands out against the Chevrolet Tahoe and Toyota Sequoia by offering a more refined, fully independent rear suspension that delivers a smoother highway ride across the Emirates. While the Tahoe offers more engine variety, the Nissan's 5.6L V8 is a proven, high-durability unit with an extensive parts network shared with the Nissan Patrol. Its 98-liter fuel tank is also a major asset for long-distance desert highway hauls.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.6L V8 in GCC conditions typically ranges from 15 to 17 L/100km, depending on your split between city traffic and high-speed cruising. Service intervals are standard at 10,000 km, and Nissan’s authorized network is among the strongest in the region, with major centers in every emirate and across Saudi Arabia and Oman. While depreciation is higher than the Toyota Sequoia, the Armada's lower initial used entry price makes it a superior value-for-money proposition.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this SUV is the 390 hp V8, providing 544 Nm of torque that makes highway overtaking effortless, even with eight passengers on board. It boasts a class-leading towing capacity of 3,855 kg, perfect for those towing boats or jet ski trailers to the coast. The rear-wheel-drive configuration paired with 234 mm of ground clearance ensures it handles gravel tracks and sandy wadi entries with more poise than a standard unibody crossover.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the cabin is designed to combat the GCC summer with a powerful tri-zone climate control system that includes dedicated vents for all three rows. The eight-seat configuration is genuinely usable, featuring a power-folding third row that creates a flat load floor for cargo when not in use. Acoustic glass and thick insulation keep the interior remarkably quiet, shielding passengers from road noise during long trans-emirate drives.

Safety

This SL trim comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite, including Intelligent Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Intervention, which are vital for high-speed highway safety. It also features Blind Spot Interventions and Rear Cross Traffic Alert to manage its large footprint in busy urban environments. The 360-degree camera system is a standard feature on this trim, providing a bird's-eye view that makes parking this full-size SUV simple.

The bottom line

This is a low-mileage, high-spec example of a legendary V8 workhorse, perfect for a UAE family who prioritizes reliability and premium audio for their daily commutes and weekend road trips.
