Summary

This 2022 Nissan Patrol Super Safari represents the final evolution of the legendary Y61 generation, a vehicle deeply woven into the fabric of GCC driving culture. With a 4-year-old age profile and 60,000 km on the clock, its mileage is exactly in line with typical regional highway use, ensuring the robust inline-six engine is just getting started. The Super Safari trim offers a unique blend of vintage ruggedness and modern convenience, featuring a factory winch, navigation, and tan leather that rivals cannot match for sheer heritage. In the GCC market, the black-on-tan combination is a perennial favorite, ensuring strong demand and high resale liquidity. Whether you are navigating heavy city traffic in Riyadh or exploring the deep sands of the Liwa desert, this Patrol remains the gold standard for mechanical reliability and effortless off-road capability.

This Car vs Other 2022 Patrols

With 60,000 km recorded over 4 years, this vehicle has averaged 15,000 km annually, which is notably lower than the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km for large SUVs. In a market where high-mileage examples are common due to inter-emirate commuting, this lower usage represents a significant mechanical advantage. The black exterior is highly sought after in the secondary market, providing a professional aesthetic that holds its value better than more niche colors.

SUPER SAFARI vs Lower Trims

The Super Safari is the flagship of the Y61 range, adding essential luxury and functional upgrades over the standard Safari trim. Key additions include the iconic 'Super Safari' body decals, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and a premium tan leather interior with power-adjustable seats. Tech-wise, it introduces a 2-DIN navigation system with Apple CarPlay and a wireless smartphone charger, features rarely found in the more utilitarian lower trims.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

The Patrol Super Safari stands alone against rivals like the Toyota Land Cruiser 70-Series by offering a much higher level of cabin refinement while maintaining a superior 135-litre dual-tank range. While modern crossovers prioritize aerodynamics, the Patrol’s body-on-frame construction and live-axle suspension provide durability that modern monocoque rivals simply cannot match in extreme desert conditions. Its 4.8L VTC engine is widely regarded as more responsive for dune climbing than the smaller V6 powerplants found in competing mid-size SUVs.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.8L engine typically ranges between 15–18L/100km, reflecting its high-displacement nature suited for GCC highway cruising. As one of the most popular vehicles in the region, service intervals are a standard 10,000 km, with parts available in almost every corner of the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The Super Safari enjoys some of the lowest depreciation rates in the GCC, often retaining up to 80% of its value after three years due to its status as a discontinued icon.

Performance & Capability

The 4.8L VTC inline-six engine delivers 280 hp and a massive 451 Nm of torque, providing the low-end grunt necessary for heavy sand driving. A top speed of 190 km/h ensures it remains a competent highway cruiser for long-distance travel between GCC capitals. The selectable 4WD system with a rear differential lock and heavy-duty coil spring suspension allows for extreme articulation, making it a favorite for both weekend adventurers and professional off-roaders.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the seven-seat layout is optimized for family comfort with a powerful dual-zone air conditioning system specifically engineered to handle 45°C+ summer peaks. The Super Safari features a wood-grain trim and tan leather upholstery that brings a classic executive feel to a rugged platform. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated cooling vents and a surprisingly quiet cabin, thanks to the Y61's thick insulation and high-profile tires that soak up road imperfections.

Safety

This trim is equipped with essential safety systems for regional driving, including dual-front SRS airbags and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) to assist with stability on loose gravel or sand. Standard cruise control helps manage fatigue on long desert stretches, while the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is a vital tool for those who frequently deflate their tires for off-road use. Anti-lock Braking (ABS) and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) ensure predictable stopping power on both asphalt and dunes.

The bottom line

For the GCC enthusiast who values mechanical purity and legendary desert performance, this low-mileage 2022 Super Safari is the perfect bridge between a rugged workhorse and a modern daily driver.
