Summary

This 2022 Toyota Prado GXR is a standout choice in the GCC market, offering the preferred 4.0L V6 powertrain that balances daily reliability with genuine off-road capability. With 57,558 km, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the regional annual average, making it a mechanically sound long-term investment. The blue exterior offers a distinctive and professional look, while the GXR trim provides essential upgrades like a sunroof and tri-zone climate control. As one of the most trusted nameplates in the Middle East, this Prado offers peace of mind through its legendary durability and unmatched resale value. It remains the ideal 7-seater for families who value safety and the freedom to explore the desert on weekends.

This Car vs Other 2022 Prados

With just under 58,000 km on the odometer, this Prado is well below the typical GCC usage for its age, where average annual mileage often reaches 25,000 km. Most comparable listings of this year have already crossed the 75,000 km mark, placing this specific car in its mechanical prime. The blue exterior is a sophisticated alternative to the common white or silver, yet still retains the high resale appeal characteristic of the Prado brand in this region.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim is the preferred middle-ground in the UAE, adding essential comfort features over the base EXR. Key upgrades include a power sunroof, 19-inch alloy wheels, and tri-zone automatic climate control, which is vital for maintaining passenger comfort during peak summer months. Additionally, the GXR receives a larger 9-inch infotainment display with wireless smartphone connectivity, a significant step up from the base model's smaller unit.

Prado vs Segment Rivals

While rivals like the Mitsubishi Pajero or Nissan Pathfinder offer family utility, the Prado leads the segment with its body-on-frame durability and a massive 150-litre fuel tank, perfect for long-distance cross-border drives. Its 4.0L V6 is naturally aspirated, avoiding the complexity of turbocharged rivals and ensuring better performance in the high-heat conditions of the GCC. The Prado consistently outperforms its class in used-market liquidity and value retention.

Running Costs & Resale

Toyota’s GCC-spec Prado benefits from one of the most accessible service networks in the region, with authorized centers in every major city from Dubai to Riyadh. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and parts are widely available, keeping long-term maintenance costs lower than European competitors. Historically, the Prado holds approximately 70-75% of its value after three years in the GCC, representing one of the safest financial decisions in the automotive market.

Performance & Capability

The 4.0L V6 engine delivers 271 hp and 381 Nm of torque, providing the necessary muscle for highway overtaking and navigating soft sand dunes. Unlike the 2.7L variant, this V6 model includes a robust 4WD system with a low-range transfer case and a locking centre differential as standard. With a top speed of 200 km/h and a 0-100 km/h time of approximately 8.5 seconds, it offers a confident and stable driving experience across the Emirates' high-speed road networks.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Prado is configured for seven passengers with a flexible third-row that folds flat for increased cargo space. The cabin is specifically engineered for the Middle East, featuring high-output air conditioning with dedicated vents for all three rows to ensure rapid cooling. The GXR's upgraded interior includes a leather-trimmed steering wheel and an Optitron meter cluster, providing a refined environment for both city commutes and long family road trips.

Safety

Safety is a priority with 7 airbags standard on this GXR trim, compared to only 2 in the base model. It is equipped with an array of active systems including Stability Control (VSC), Active Traction Control (A-TRC), and Hill-start Assist, which are particularly effective on loose sand and gravel. The inclusion of front and rear parking sensors along with a rear-view camera makes maneuvering this full-size SUV through tight city spaces effortless.

The bottom line

This Prado GXR is the perfect match for a family seeking a low-mileage, V6-powered workhorse that is equally at home in downtown Dubai or on a weekend desert excursion. It represents a rare opportunity to own a meticulously maintained 2022 model that will hold its value better than almost any other vehicle in the GCC.
