Summary

This 2022 Volkswagen Teramont offers a practical entry point into the large seven-seater segment, finished in a resale-friendly Grey that handles the local dust exceptionally well. While its mileage is higher than the typical GCC annual average, it reflects the long-distance highway cruising these SUVs are engineered to handle comfortably between the Emirates. As a Trendline trim with the 3.6L V6 and 4MOTION all-wheel drive, it provides the essential brawn and space needed for large families without the complexity of higher-tier electronics. It stands out for having a genuinely usable third row that even adults can occupy on longer trips, a rarity in this class. For a GCC buyer, the strength of the local Volkswagen service network ensures long-term maintenance remains straightforward across the region.

This Car vs Other 2022 Teramonts

With 138,222 km, this unit has been driven more than the regional average of 25,000 km per year, but this is often typical for family SUVs used for cross-border or inter-emirate travel. The Grey exterior is one of the most resilient colors for the GCC climate, maintaining its appearance and value better than darker shades. Choosing a 2022 model ensures you have the refreshed styling and modern infotainment connectivity standard for this generation.

TRENDLINE vs Lower Trims

The Trendline serves as the foundational trim for the V6 range, notably adding the 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system which is often an upgrade over base front-wheel-drive configurations. It includes essential GCC-priority features like three-zone climate control with dedicated rear vents and the App-Connect system for seamless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. While it lacks the panoramic roof of higher trims, it retains the core safety suite and the massive interior volume that defines the model.

Teramont vs Segment Rivals

The Teramont competes directly with the Ford Explorer and Toyota Highlander, leading both in terms of sheer third-row legroom and ease of access. Its 70-litre fuel tank is well-sized for the long highway stretches common in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, while its square body design offers superior vertical cargo space compared to more raked competitors. The German engineering focus provides a more planted, car-like driving feel on the highway than many body-on-frame alternatives.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.6L V6 engine typically sees a combined fuel consumption of approximately 10.6 L/100km, performing best during steady-speed highway cruising. Service intervals are recommended every 15,000 km or once a year, with a major service typically occurring at the 60,000 km mark. In the GCC market, the Teramont experiences a moderate depreciation rate compared to Japanese rivals, but it holds a strong position as a high-demand family vehicle on the secondary market.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 3.6L V6 engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the Teramont delivers 280 hp (verified for the GCC spec) and 360 Nm of torque. This provides confident overtaking power on fast-moving highways like the E11 and sufficient capability for light sandy trails thanks to the 4MOTION system. With a standard ground clearance of 203 mm, it easily handles high curbs and uneven wadi terrain during weekend family outings.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed around 'family logistics,' featuring seventeen cupholders and a second row that slides and tilts even with child seats installed. The air conditioning system is specifically tuned for the extreme 45°C+ heat of the GCC summer, ensuring consistent cooling all the way to the third row. Even with all seven seats in use, the 583-litre boot remains large enough for a weekly grocery run or school bags.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, and a comprehensive airbag system covering all three rows. Active features such as Electronic Stability Control, ABS, and Hill Descent Control come standard, providing essential stability during sudden weather changes or gravel driving. The Teramont also includes ISOFIX anchors across the second and third rows for secure family transport.

The bottom line

This Teramont is the ideal choice for a large family needing maximum space and V6 power on a budget, offering German engineering and GCC-spec reliability in a highly practical color.
