Summary

This silver SUV offers a practical solution for families needing seven seats without the bulk of a full-sized 4x4. As a GCC-spec model, it benefits from localized cooling and a robust service network that maintains value better than imported counterparts. The silver exterior is a top-tier choice for the local market, offering excellent heat reflection and high demand at resale. With 78,000 km over three years, this Sorento has been used for the typical long-range highway commutes common across the Emirates. It stands out in the segment by balancing a manageable footprint with a genuine four-wheel-drive system suitable for weekend escapes.

This Car vs Other 2023 Sorentos

With 78,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle sits comfortably within the average annual mileage range for a three-year-old car in the GCC, where highway driving is frequent. Silver remains one of the most resilient colors for resale in the local market, especially in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Choosing a GCC-spec vehicle over an American import ensures full compatibility with local service centers and a cooling system designed for 50°C summers.

EX vs Lower Trims

The EX trim elevates the Sorento experience by adding a smart power tailgate and advanced safety technologies like Highway Driving Assist. While lower trims stick to basic equipment, the EX introduces a more refined cabin with a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen and wireless charging. It also features upgraded seating materials and power adjustments that make long journeys across the Emirates significantly more comfortable.

Sorento vs Segment Rivals

The Sorento is often compared to the Toyota Highlander and Hyundai Santa Fe, leading the group with its balance of technology and maneuverability. Its four-wheel-drive system provides a confidence boost on gravel tracks and sand-swept roads where front-wheel-drive rivals might struggle. The cabin layout is optimized for family logistics, offering easier third-row access than many other crossovers in this class.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 9.8 L/100km in mixed GCC driving, benefiting from an efficient 2.5L powertrain. Service intervals are typically set at 10,000 km, with authorized Kia centers readily available in every major city from Dubai to Muscat. The Sorento historically retains approximately 65% of its value after three years in the GCC, making it a sound long-term family investment.

Performance & Capability

The 2.5L engine delivers reliable power for highway overtaking while maintaining smooth city manners. The Four Wheel Drive system is designed for extra traction on rain-slicked tarmac or light desert trails during weekend camping trips. With selectable drive modes, the Sorento adapts its power delivery to suit the long, straight desert highways that connect the GCC’s major urban hubs.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat configuration features one-touch sliding second-row seats to simplify access for children and passengers. The cabin is specifically insulated to handle extreme heat, backed by a powerful dual-zone air conditioning system with dedicated vents for rear occupants. Generous legroom in the first two rows makes it an ideal choice for inter-city travel, while the silver exterior helps keep the interior cooler during peak summer months.

Safety

This trim includes Kia’s comprehensive ADAS suite, featuring Forward Collision-Avoidance, Lane Keeping Assist, and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance, which is essential for fast-moving multi-lane highway traffic. The Sorento also comes standard with multiple airbags and a reinforced chassis to ensure maximum passenger protection. Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go technology further reduces driver fatigue during long desert commutes.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Sorento is a smart opportunity for a growing family that values the reliability of a silver exterior and the peace of mind provided by a local service history.
