Summary

This 2023 Toyota Prado Limited represents the final, most refined iteration of the legendary 150-series before the 2024 generational shift, making it a highly reliable choice for the region. Finished in silver, the most sought-after resale color in the GCC, this unit is perfectly suited for the local market's demand for high-retention assets. The Prado remains the definitive choice for families who require genuine off-road capability without the massive footprint of the full-sized Land Cruiser. With its GCC-specific cooling and high-capacity fuel system, it is engineered to handle the extreme heat and long-distance desert drives typical of UAE and Saudi Arabian travel. For a buyer looking for a dependable seven-seater that holds its value better than almost anything else on the road, this Limited trim offers the ideal balance of luxury and mechanical toughness.

This Car vs Other 2023 Prados

While many 2023 models in the UAE have already seen heavy highway use, this unit stands out for its well-maintained condition typical of private ownership. The silver exterior is a strategic choice for the GCC, as it reflects heat better than darker tones and consistently commands the highest demand in the pre-owned market. Compared to typical annual GCC mileages that often exceed 25,000 km, this vehicle remains a fresh and robust example of Toyota’s legendary durability.

Limited vs Lower Trims

The Limited trim is the premium choice for GCC buyers, adding high-value features that lower trims like the EXR or GXR often lack. It upgrades the experience with a 360-degree camera for easier parking in tight city spots and a premium leather interior that significantly improves cabin feel. Crucially for the local climate, the Limited includes enhanced tech like a larger touchscreen with wireless smartphone integration and factory-fitted navigation, ensuring higher convenience for long-distance family trips.

Prado vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Mitsubishi Pajero or the Nissan Pathfinder, the Prado leads significantly in terms of resale value and off-road mechanical hardware. Its massive 150-litre fuel tank provides a cruising range that rivals simply cannot match, making it the superior choice for cross-border trips between Emirates or into Oman. While rivals may offer more car-like handling, the Prado’s body-on-frame construction ensures it remains the most durable vehicle for those who actually intend to explore the desert.

Running Costs & Resale

Toyota Prados are known for having the best value retention in the GCC, typically depreciating at a much slower rate than European or American rivals. In real-world GCC conditions, the 4.0L V6 provides a balance of power and highway efficiency, though fuel use increases in stop-start city traffic. Maintenance is exceptionally convenient with the most extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, with recommended service intervals every 10,000 km or 6 months. Parts are readily available at every corner of the region, ensuring long-term ownership costs remain the lowest in the segment.

Performance & Capability

The 4.0L V6 engine delivers a reliable 271 hp, providing confident overtaking on the E11 highway even when fully loaded with seven passengers. Its true strength lies in its off-road pedigree, featuring a full-time 4WD system and a low-range transfer case that allows it to navigate soft sand dunes with ease. With a ground clearance of approximately 215 mm and specialized cooling systems for the engine and transmission, it is purpose-built to survive the 50°C summer heat without power loss. Whether it is a weekend at Liwa or a daily commute in Riyadh, the Prado feels mechanically unstoppably.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Prado Limited is a true seven-seater designed for GCC family logistics, featuring a tri-zone climate control system with powerful rear vents that keep every row cool in peak summer. The cabin is insulated to high standards to minimize road noise during long desert highway hauls, while the refrigerator in the center console is a local must-have for keeping drinks cold. The leather seats are electrically adjustable, and the flat-folding third row allows for flexible cargo space when transitioning from school runs to airport trips.

Safety

Safety in the Limited trim is comprehensive, featuring a suite of airbags and active systems like Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which are essential for navigating fast-moving multi-lane traffic. The inclusion of a 360-degree camera provides a bird's-eye view, significantly reducing the risk of collisions in crowded parking areas. Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC) come standard, ensuring the car remains planted on both high-speed asphalt and unpredictable sandy tracks.

The bottom line

For the UAE buyer, this 2023 Prado Limited is the ultimate 'safe bet,' offering the perfect silver-on-leather combination with the reliable V6 powertrain. It is the best opportunity to own the proven 150-series platform in its most luxurious and final form before newer, more complex models take over the market.
