Summary

This 2023 Toyota Prado TX-L is a standout example of the legendary 'junior Land Cruiser,' offering the perfect balance of rugged off-road capability and refined family comfort. With just over 45,000 km, this vehicle has been used sparingly by GCC standards and finished in black, a strong resale color that holds its value exceptionally well in the local market. The V6 engine provides the necessary power for both high-speed highway cruising and weekend desert adventures, making it a versatile choice for any driver in the region. Choosing this GCC-spec model ensures full compatibility with the region's climate-specific requirements and gives you access to the most robust service network in the Middle East. It remains the smart-money choice for those who want Land Cruiser durability in a more maneuverable package.

This Car vs Other 2023 Prados

With a mileage of 45,150 km, this Prado has been driven roughly 22,500 km per year, which is perfectly in line with the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km. Unlike many workhorse examples found in the region, this unit's black-on-leather combination is highly sought after for its professional aesthetic and superior resale liquidity. It represents a low-risk entry into the late-model J150 generation, offering near-new mechanical integrity without the first-year depreciation hit.

TX-L vs Lower Trims

The TX-L trim is a significant step up from the base EXR, adding essential GCC luxuries such as a sunroof, leather-trimmed power seats, and a 9-inch infotainment system with integrated navigation. Crucially for the Gulf heat, this trim includes a cooled centre console (cool box) and dual-zone automatic climate control, features often missing on lower-tier imports. It also upgrades the exterior with 19-inch alloy wheels and LED headlamps, giving it the premium road presence of the higher-tier VXR.

Prado vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Mitsubishi Montero Sport and Ford Explorer, the Prado leads with its massive 150-litre fuel tank, which provides a significantly longer range for cross-country drives between emirates. While rivals may offer more tech, the Prado’s body-on-frame construction and permanent four-wheel-drive system offer genuine desert capability that monocoque competitors cannot match. Its reputation for reliability in 50°C temperatures remains the benchmark for the segment.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 typically averages 12.5–14 L/100km in mixed GCC driving, though steady highway cruising can see this improve toward 10.5 L/100km. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km at authorized centers like Al Futtaim, ensuring the vehicle maintains its high resale value, which typically only drops by 8–10% annually. Parts availability is the best in the region, with components available in almost every city across the UAE and KSA.

Performance & Capability

The 271 hp V6 engine is paired with a selectable low-range transfer case and a center differential lock, making it a formidable off-roader right off the showroom floor. With a generous 215 mm ground clearance and standard Hill Start Assist, it handles steep dunes and rocky wadis with ease. On the highway, the 381 Nm of torque ensures confident overtaking even when fully loaded with seven passengers and gear.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for long-distance family travel, featuring seven seats with a flexible folding third row for extra cargo space. The tri-zone climate control system is engineered specifically for the Middle East, delivering rapid cooling even after the car has been parked in direct sunlight. High-quality leather upholstery and an acoustic-glass windshield provide a quiet, premium environment that insulates passengers from external heat and road noise.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive with 7 airbags, Active Traction Control (A-TRC), and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) as standard. The TX-L trim also includes a rear-view camera and front/rear parking sensors, which are vital for maneuvering a large SUV in tight city parking. Additionally, Downhill Assist Control (DAC) provides extra security when navigating steep off-road descents or slippery surfaces.

The bottom line

For the UAE buyer who needs a reliable family daily driver that can transform into a desert explorer on weekends, this low-mileage V6 Prado TX-L is the definitive choice. It offers the best resale security and service support in the GCC market, making it a worry-free investment.
