Summary

This 2024 full-sized SUV presents a compelling purchase opportunity for families in the GCC, offering a nearly-new vehicle experience with only 30,000 km on the odometer. While many regional examples accumulate mileage rapidly on long desert highways, this unit remains well below the typical annual average for its segment. The black exterior is a high-demand color in the UAE and Saudi markets, significantly aiding long-term resale value. Choosing this trim ensures you get the core mechanical power and four-wheel-drive capability required for regional weekend adventures without the excessive premium of range-topping variants. It stands out in the crowded SUV market by offering a genuine eight-seat layout and a powerful twin-turbocharged engine that handles the heat and long-distance travel better than naturally aspirated rivals. For a buyer looking for a modern, tech-forward daily driver that can comfortably transit between emirates, this vehicle represents an excellent balance of age, condition, and utility.

This Car vs Other 2024 Expeditions

With just 30,000 km, this vehicle is well-positioned against other 2024 models in the GCC market, where the average annual mileage for a full-sized family SUV often hits 25,000 km or more. Having covered very little distance in its first year, the mechanical components and interior surfaces remain in a condition that mirrors a showroom floor. The black paintwork is a strategic choice for the region, as it remains one of the fastest-moving colors in the secondary market across the UAE and Oman. While it is a Canadian-spec vehicle, the core mechanical architecture is identical to local variants, ensuring it is perfectly suited for high-speed highway cruising and heavy AC usage during the peak summer months. Buyers will find this specific unit offers a significant advantage in terms of wear-and-tear compared to high-use regional fleet or rental alternatives.

XLT vs Lower Trims

Stepping into this trim level provides several essential upgrades that GCC buyers prioritize for both comfort and resale value. Unlike basic entry-level trims, this model includes the full three-row seating configuration as standard, accommodating up to eight passengers in a spacious environment. It introduces enhanced climate control systems that are vital for maintaining cabin temperatures across all three rows during extreme UAE heat. You also benefit from a more sophisticated infotainment suite and upgraded interior materials that feel significantly more premium than the base utility-focused trims. The addition of standard four-wheel drive on this trim also ensures that the vehicle is ready for more than just school runs, providing the capability needed for soft sand driving and weekend escapes.

Expedition vs Segment Rivals

In the competitive landscape of the GCC, this model frequently goes up against the Chevrolet Tahoe and the Nissan Patrol. Where this vehicle leads is in its powertrain efficiency; the 3.5L EcoBoost engine provides superior torque for overtaking on highways like the E11 compared to the naturally aspirated V8s found in many rivals. It also offers a more usable third row than the Tahoe, making it a better choice for large families who need to carry adults in the back. The cabin cooling efficiency is top-tier, rivaling the legendary air conditioning performance of the Patrol, which is a non-negotiable factor for local summers. Furthermore, the cargo space behind the third row is among the most generous in the segment, allowing for family luggage or groceries even when the car is at full seating capacity.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel consumption is optimized for the region's driving profile, with the twin-turbo 6-cylinder delivering better highway economy during long-distance trips between cities than traditional large-displacement engines. It runs efficiently on standard high-grade petrol available at any ADNOC or ENOC station. Maintenance is straightforward, with Ford's extensive service network covering major cities across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts availability is never a concern. As a Canadian-spec vehicle, it provides a cost-saving entry point into a current-model-year SUV, while still benefiting from a global parts supply chain. Depreciation for this model in the GCC is predictable and generally more stable than European luxury SUVs, typically seeing a value retention of approximately 75% after the first three years because of its enduring popularity as a family workhorse.

Performance & Capability

The 375 horsepower generated by the 3.5L engine ensures that this large SUV never feels sluggish, even when fully loaded with eight passengers and gear. On the highway, the 10-speed automatic transmission keeps the engine in its power band for effortless overtaking and quiet cruising at 120 km/h. Its four-wheel-drive system is robust enough for GCC-specific needs, such as traversing gravel tracks in Ras Al Khaimah or navigating soft sand during desert camping trips. With a high ground clearance and a substantial towing capacity of over 4,000 kg, it is also perfectly equipped for those who need to haul jet skis or horse trailers. The suspension is tuned to absorb the imperfections of city roads while remaining planted and stable during high-speed cross-border drives.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is designed with the unique needs of a large household in mind, featuring eight well-padded seats and a layout that allows for easy access to the rear. The air conditioning system is particularly powerful, featuring dedicated vents for every row to ensure rapid cooling after the car has been parked in the sun. High-quality cabin insulation keeps the interior quiet, shielding passengers from road noise during long stretches of desert highway. For the driver, the ergonomic layout and modern touchscreen interface make daily commuting through busy city traffic less stressful. The black exterior is complemented by a cabin that feels airy and spacious, providing a sanctuary of comfort during the intense heat of a middle-eastern summer.

Safety

Safety is a paramount consideration for this model, which comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of driver-assist technologies. Standard features like blind-spot monitoring are exceptionally helpful on the wide, fast-moving highways of the GCC, where lane changes require constant vigilance. The pre-collision assist and lane-keeping systems provide an extra layer of security during long, fatiguing drives between emirates. Parking a vehicle of this size is made simple with integrated sensors and a high-resolution camera system, essential for navigating tight mall parking structures in Dubai or Riyadh. With a top-tier safety rating and multiple airbags protecting all three rows, it offers the ultimate peace of mind for parents and families.

The bottom line

This 2024 Canadian-spec SUV is the perfect choice for a family looking for a modern, low-mileage 8-seater that excels in both city comfort and highway performance. Given its excellent condition and popular color, it represents a smart purchase for a buyer who wants a current-generation full-sized vehicle at a more accessible price point than GCC-market showroom examples.
