Summary

This 2024 Geely Coolray GF PLUS is a standout choice in the compact SUV segment, offering a balance of performance and premium features that punch far above its weight. With only 24,500 km on the clock, its mileage is significantly lower than the GCC annual average for a two-year-old vehicle, making it a nearly-new opportunity for savvy buyers. The unique Purple exterior is a bold, modern choice that has gained popularity in the UAE for its distinctive presence and strong secondary market demand. Equipped with a punchy turbocharged engine and the range-topping GF PLUS equipment, it represents one of the best feature-per-dirham values currently available in the region. For a GCC buyer, the remaining manufacturer warranty provides essential peace of mind for long-term ownership.

This Car vs Other 2024 Coolrays

At 24,500 km, this Coolray has been driven less than the typical 40,000–50,000 km expected for a two-year-old car in the GCC. This low mileage suggests lighter urban use rather than heavy cross-country commuting, which often translates to better preserved interior surfaces and mechanical components. The Purple finish is a premium factory color that maintains a high desirability factor among lifestyle-oriented buyers in the local used market.

GF PLUS vs Lower Trims

The GF PLUS is the pinnacle of the Coolray range, adding features that are essential for the GCC climate, such as ventilated front seats that are absent on the GL and GK trims. It also upgrades the cabin with a larger 14.6-inch infotainment display and a 540-degree camera system that includes a 'transparent chassis' view for effortless parking in tight Dubai or Abu Dhabi spaces. Additional ADAS features like Blind Spot Detection and a power tailgate make the GF PLUS significantly more convenient for daily family use.

Coolray vs Segment Rivals

The Coolray consistently leads competitors like the MG ZS and Hyundai Creta in pure performance, utilizing a Volvo-shared engine architecture that delivers a quicker 0-100 km/h time than most rivals. While others in this segment often feel underpowered on fast-moving GCC highways, the Coolray's 290 Nm of torque ensures confident overtaking. Its cabin technology, particularly the dual-screen digital cockpit, feels a generation ahead of more conservative entries in the subcompact crossover class.

Running Costs & Resale

With a combined fuel consumption of roughly 5.8 L/100km, the Coolray is exceptionally efficient for city commuting across the Emirates. Geely has established a strong authorized service presence through major distributors like AGMC in the UAE, ensuring parts and expert maintenance are readily available. While Chinese brands historically faced steeper depreciation, the Coolray has bucked this trend in the GCC by maintaining high demand, typically retaining more value at the 3-year mark than its immediate segment rivals.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine produces 172 hp, allowing for a spirited 0–100 km/h sprint in just 7.6 seconds. This power is managed by a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission designed to handle the high-heat stop-start traffic typical of Riyadh and Dubai without the overheating issues common in older dry-clutch systems. Multiple drive modes, including a dedicated Sport setting, allow you to stiffen the steering and sharpen throttle response for more engaging highway drives.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is specifically tailored for summer comfort, featuring powerful automatic climate control and ventilated front seats to combat the desert heat. The GF PLUS trim includes a full panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting that elevates the interior feel during evening drives. Passengers benefit from dedicated rear cooling vents and high-quality leatherette upholstery that is durable enough to withstand the wear of family road trips across the GCC.

Safety

Safety is a major priority in the GF PLUS trim, which comes standard with a full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). This includes Lane Keep Assist and Blind Spot Detection, which are invaluable for navigating multi-lane GCC highways. The 540-degree camera system provides a virtual view underneath the car, and six airbags provide comprehensive protection for all five occupants, contributing to its reputation as a safe family crossover.

The bottom line

This low-mileage GF PLUS is the perfect match for a young professional or small family looking for flagship technology and punchy performance without the premium price tag of European rivals.
