Summary

This 2026 Geely Coolray GS represents a compelling entry into the modern compact crossover market, offering a level of acceleration and tech-forward design that typically commands a higher premium. Finished in White, the most resilient color for resale in the GCC, this vehicle is perfectly suited for the region's high-demand used market. As a 0-year-old vehicle, it provides a fresh ownership start with the benefit of the latest four-cylinder turbocharger refinements. While it faces stiff competition from established Korean and Japanese rivals, the Coolray differentiates itself through a significantly punchier engine and a dual-clutch transmission that feels far more engaging on the highway. For any GCC buyer, the transferrable factory warranty remains the single most important factor, ensuring peace of mind across major service networks.

This Car vs Other 2026 Geely Coolrays

As a brand-new 2026 model, this Coolray offers the updated four-cylinder powertrain which provides smoother power delivery compared to the earlier three-cylinder units found in older stock. The White exterior is the strategic choice for the GCC, ensuring maximum heat reflection during summer and the strongest possible value retention at trade-in. With zero mileage, this listing bypasses the typical high-annual-use wear seen in the local market, where cars often reach 25,000 km within their first year.

GS vs Lower Trims

The GS trim serves as a balanced entry point, providing the same high-output 177 hp turbocharged engine found in the flagship models. While it focuses on essential value, it retains the core 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and the digital-first cabin architecture that defines the new Coolray generation. Higher trims typically add amenities like the panoramic sunroof and 360-degree cameras, but the GS remains the preferred choice for fleet or budget-conscious buyers who prioritize mechanical performance over elective cabin luxuries.

Coolray vs Segment Rivals

The Geely Coolray comfortably outpaces segment mainstays like the Hyundai Creta and Nissan Kicks in straight-line performance, with its 7.6-second 0-100 km/h time leading the class. While the Toyota Raize offers smaller footprints for city parking, the Coolray provides a more substantial highway presence and superior cabin insulation for long-distance drives between Emirates. Its use of the BMA modular architecture gives it a level of high-speed stability that many budget-oriented crossovers lack.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel economy is efficient at a claimed 6.5 L/100km, though GCC drivers should expect closer to 8.5 L/100km in heavy stop-start city traffic with the air conditioning at full capacity. Service intervals are standard for the region at every 10,000 km or 12 months, supported by an expanding authorized network in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. While Chinese brands generally face steeper initial depreciation than Japanese rivals, Geely currently leads its regional peers, retaining approximately 60% of its value over a three-year period.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder produces a verified 177 hp and 290 Nm of torque, making it exceptionally capable for highway overtaking and maintaining speed on long desert stretches. The 7-speed dual-clutch transmission is tuned for responsiveness, offering a sporty feel that is rare in the subcompact crossover segment. With a ground clearance of approximately 180 mm, it easily handles typical urban obstacles and graded gravel tracks, though it remains a strictly road-biased front-wheel-drive vehicle.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed with the GCC's extreme heat in mind, featuring a high-output climate control system and rear air vents standard to ensure all passengers stay cool. The digital cockpit is a standout feature for this price bracket, utilizing a high-resolution central display that integrates seamlessly with modern smartphone connectivity. Despite its compact exterior, the 2,600 mm wheelbase allows for competitive legroom in both rows, making it a viable primary vehicle for small families.

Safety

Safety is a strong suit for the Coolray, which carries a 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating based on its robust BMA platform construction. Standard equipment includes electronic stability control, traction control, and a comprehensive airbag system designed to protect occupants in frontal and side impacts. The inclusion of hill-start assist and advanced braking systems provides added confidence during the unpredictable driving conditions often encountered on major GCC highways.

The bottom line

This 2026 Geely Coolray GS is the ideal match for a young professional or small family seeking a brand-new, high-tech SUV without the premium price tag of a traditional brand. It offers the best performance-to-price ratio in its segment, backed by a strong regional service presence.
