Summary

This 2025 Geely Coolray GL offers a modern crossover experience with a punchy 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and high feature density. As a one-year-old vehicle with 43,965 km, it represents a strategic buy for those seeking a contemporary design and a responsive dual-clutch transmission without the initial showroom depreciation. The white exterior is a top-tier choice for the GCC market, ensuring better heat management and maximum resale liquidity across the region. Positioned as a tech-forward urban commuter, it stands out with its sharp LED lighting and high-definition cockpit. For a GCC buyer, the combination of a fuel-efficient turbo powertrain and a robust regional service network via authorized distributors makes this a highly practical and stylish choice for daily Emirate-to-Emirate commuting.

This Car vs Other 2025 Coolrays

With 43,965 km on the odometer, this Coolray has seen active use slightly above the typical GCC annual average of 25,000 km, yet it remains mechanically young as a one-year-old model. The white exterior is the most sought-after color in the UAE and wider GCC used market, providing a significant advantage for future resale value and cooling efficiency during peak summer months. It offers a clear opportunity to own a current-generation model that is already well-settled into its service cycle.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim serves as a well-balanced entry into the Coolray lineup, providing essential modern tech that GCC buyers prioritize, including a high-definition digital instrument cluster and a large touchscreen with smartphone integration. While it retains durable 17-inch alloy wheels that offer a more comfortable ride on varied road surfaces compared to larger thin-profile wheels, it still includes the same potent 1.5T engine and 7-speed DCT found in the higher GF trims. This ensures you get the same performance profile as the top-spec models but at a more accessible value point.

Coolray vs Segment Rivals

The Coolray leads segment rivals like the MG ZS and Hyundai Creta by offering a more aggressive 7.6-second acceleration time, thanks to its Volvo-linked BMA platform architecture. Its 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission provides a more engaging and responsive drive on fast-moving GCC highways compared to the CVTs often found in Japanese or Korean competitors. Additionally, the Coolray's cabin design is notably more driver-centric, featuring digital interfaces that feel a generation ahead of standard segment offerings.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption typically stays between 6.5 and 7.5 L/100km, making it highly efficient for both stop-start city traffic in Riyadh or Dubai and long-distance desert highway cruising. Geely has established a strong authorized service presence through AGMC in the UAE and Wallan in Saudi Arabia, ensuring parts are readily available and service intervals are manageable. While Chinese brands initially saw steeper depreciation, the Coolray’s high market volume in the Middle East has stabilized its 3-year value retention, which is now increasingly competitive with more established brands.

Performance & Capability

The standout figure is the 7.6-second 0–100 km/h sprint, which provides confident overtaking power when merging onto high-speed UAE motorways. The 1.5-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine delivers 290 Nm of torque, ensuring the vehicle never feels underpowered even with five passengers on board. Though designed primarily for urban environments, its front-wheel-drive setup and optimized ground clearance handle gravel paths and suburban transitions with ease, making it a versatile tool for weekend road trips.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is centered around a modern digital cockpit that prioritizes ease of use and high visibility even in bright GCC sunlight. Efficient air conditioning with rear vents ensures the interior reaches comfortable temperatures quickly, a vital feature for the local climate. The 5-seat layout offers flexible cargo space with flat-folding rear seats, accommodating everything from daily grocery runs to holiday luggage for cross-border trips.

Safety

Safety is managed by a comprehensive suite of active and passive systems, including Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control, which are crucial for maintaining grip on sandy or rain-slicked roads. This trim includes a high-definition rear-view camera and parking sensors as standard, simplifying maneuvers in tight urban parking spots. Standard front airbags and a high-strength steel cage construction provide peace of mind for family use in fast-moving regional traffic.

The bottom line

This 2025 Coolray GL is the ideal choice for a young professional or small family looking for a nearly-new, high-tech SUV that balances performance with excellent fuel economy in the GCC.
