Summary

This 2024 Geely Coolray GL offers a compelling blend of modern tech and athletic performance for the GCC market. With just two years of age and mileage reflecting typical highway use between emirates, it presents a well-maintained opportunity for young professionals or small families. The GL trim provides the same punchy turbocharged powertrain as higher variants, ensuring zero compromise on the driving experience. Its Blue exterior is a vibrant alternative to the segment's usual palette, while the GCC-specific cooling systems handle local summer peaks with ease. For buyers seeking a stylish crossover that balances punchy overtaking power with excellent fuel economy, this listing stands as a smart, value-oriented choice.

This Car vs Other 2024 Coolrays

At 47,945 km, this Coolray sits within the expected mileage range for a two-year-old vehicle in the GCC, where annual averages often reach 25,000 km due to highway commuting. The Blue exterior provides a distinctive look that stands out in a market dominated by white and silver, yet remains a popular and resale-friendly choice for Geely's younger demographic. Being a GCC-spec model, it ensures full compatibility with local service centers and carries the specialized cooling hardware required for the region's climate.

GL vs Lower Trims

As the entry point to the lineup, the GL trim strategically includes the essential 1.5L turbo engine and 7-speed DCT found in the top-tier GF+ models. It focuses on core technology, offering a large 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and LED daytime running lights that are often absent on base competitors. While higher trims add luxury items like ventilated seats and 360-degree cameras, the GL retains the essential safety and performance DNA that makes the Coolray a segment leader.

Coolray vs Segment Rivals

The Coolray leads rivals like the MG ZS and Hyundai Creta by offering a significantly quicker 0-100 km/h time of 7.6 seconds, thanks to its Volvo-derived powertrain technology. Its 45-liter fuel tank is well-sized for the 17.8 km/L efficiency, providing a total highway range that reduces the frequency of stops on long Abu Dhabi to Dubai trips. The cabin's digital-first layout feels a generation ahead of many Japanese and Korean alternatives in this price bracket.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel efficiency is a strong point, with real-world GCC consumption averaging around 6.5 L/100km on highways, using standard 91-octane petrol. Authorized service centers are widely available across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with major intervals typically occurring every 10,000 km. While Geely models experience slightly higher initial depreciation than Japanese legacy brands, their strong feature-to-price ratio ensures high demand and stable value retention at the 3-year mark in the used market.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivers 172 hp and 290 Nm of torque, providing effortless merging capability on fast-moving UAE motorways. The 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission is tuned for quick 0.2-second shifts, making the car feel responsive in urban traffic and smooth at cruising speeds. Though front-wheel drive, its high ground clearance and various drive modes make it capable for weekend getaways to gravel-pathed wadis or sandy beach approaches.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a modern, driver-centric design with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a sleek electronic gear shifter. Despite the high summer heat, the automatic climate control system is highly effective, supplemented by dedicated rear vents to ensure passenger comfort during long family trips. Interior materials are surprisingly premium for the segment, featuring soft-touch surfaces and a versatile 60:40 split-folding rear seat for expanded cargo space.

Safety

The Coolray GL comes equipped with a solid safety foundation, including dual front airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Traction Control to maintain grip on varied road surfaces. Standard ISOFIX child seat anchors and rear parking sensors with a camera make it a practical choice for daily family duties. It also features useful highway aids like cruise control and Hill Start Assist, which provide added confidence in both city traffic and steep parking ramps.

The bottom line

Perfect for the tech-savvy urban commuter, this 2024 Coolray GL offers high-end turbocharged performance and a modern cabin at a fraction of the cost of its rivals. It represents a balanced opportunity for a buyer wanting a nearly new, GCC-spec SUV with a clean service outlook.
