Summary

This 2024 Land Rover Defender 90 X-DYNAMIC SE P400 offers the ideal balance of short-wheelbase agility and high-output performance. Finished in White, the most sought-after color for GCC resale, this unit features the potent 400 hp mild-hybrid straight-six engine that excels both on the highway and in deep sand. With its GCC regional specification, the vehicle is fully optimized for the local climate with enhanced cooling systems and a robust service network. The P400 powertrain provides a significant jump in refinement and overtaking power over the base four-cylinder models. For the UAE buyer, this represents a modern, high-spec icon that bridges the gap between a luxury daily driver and a serious weekend explorer.

This Car vs Other 2024 Defender 90s

At 78,603 km, this vehicle's mileage is slightly above the typical GCC annual average of 25,000 km, yet it reflects consistent highway use which is often better for mechanical health than short city trips. The White exterior is the premier choice for the UAE market, ensuring maximum heat reflection during summer and the strongest possible resale value. While many 90s on the market carry the base P300 engine, this P400 variant is highly prized for its superior torque and smoother power delivery.

X-DYNAMIC SE vs Lower Trims

The X-Dynamic SE trim is a substantial step up from the base S trim, adding essential GCC comforts like ventilated front seats and a premium Meridian sound system. It features more aggressive exterior styling with Narvik Black accents and durable Robustec seat ribbons designed to withstand the wear of outdoor adventures. Crucially, this trim includes the 360° 3D Surround Camera with ClearSight Ground View, which is invaluable for both tight mall parking in Dubai and navigating rocky desert wadis.

Defender 90 vs Segment Rivals

The Defender 90 leads rivals like the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and Ford Bronco in cabin refinement and high-speed highway stability thanks to its sophisticated air suspension. While the Wrangler is a dedicated off-roader, the Defender offers a 900 mm wading depth and superior on-road manners for the daily commute between Emirates. Its 400 hp mild-hybrid engine provides a more modern and efficient power curve than the naturally aspirated V6 units found in traditional segment competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

The P400 hybrid powertrain is designed to optimize fuel efficiency in stop-start city traffic, averaging approximately 12.4 L/100km. Service intervals are typically every 13,000 km, and Land Rover's authorized service network is extensive across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Historically, the Defender 90 maintains high demand in the GCC used market, with three-year value retention often outperforming European luxury SUV rivals due to its iconic status and genuine off-road utility.

Performance & Capability

The 3.0L twin-charged straight-six produces 400 hp and 550 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint of just 6.3 seconds. For off-roaders, the Electronic Air Suspension can raise the vehicle to provide a maximum ground clearance of 291 mm, allowing it to clear obstacles that would stop most crossovers. The Terrain Response 2 system automatically shifts between Sand, Rock Crawl, and Mud programs, making it exceptionally capable for weekend trips to the Liwa desert or Hatta mountains.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the five-seat cabin is a sanctuary from the GCC heat, equipped with a powerful multi-zone climate control system and ventilated seats to keep occupants cool. The 11.4-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen is fast and intuitive, featuring wireless Apple CarPlay for seamless navigation across the Emirates. Despite its compact exterior, the cabin feels spacious and premium, utilizing high-quality materials that are designed to be easy to clean after a day in the sand.

Safety

Standard safety tech on this trim is comprehensive, featuring Adaptive Cruise Control and Blind Spot Assist which are essential for safe travel on fast-moving UAE highways. The 3D Surround Camera provides a virtual bird's-eye view, while Wade Sensing alerts the driver if water levels approach the vehicle's 900 mm limit. It also includes Lane Keep Assist and Emergency Braking, ensuring a five-star safety experience for both city driving and off-road expeditions.

The bottom line

This Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE is the perfect match for a lifestyle buyer who demands supercar-level acceleration and legendary off-road capability in a compact, stylish package.
