Summary

This 2024 Nissan X-Trail SL represents a clever buying opportunity in the GCC market, offering the range-topping luxury trim while the vehicle is still essentially new. The Beige exterior is a smart choice for the region, reflecting heat effectively while maintaining stable resale interest compared to niche colors. As an SL trim, it provides a significantly more premium interior than the standard family SUV, making it ideal for those who want executive-level comfort in a practical seven-seat layout. With its Intelligent All-Wheel Drive and updated 2024 styling, it bridges the gap between a daily city commuter and a capable weekend family tourer. For any buyer in the UAE or wider GCC, the peace of mind offered by Nissan's massive local service presence remains its strongest ownership advantage.

This Car vs Other 2024 X-Trails

With 48,337 km on the clock, this X-Trail has been utilized slightly more than the typical 20,000–25,000 km GCC annual average, yet it remains well within its mechanical prime. The mileage is offset by the vehicle being the high-spec SL trim, which holds its value better than base models due to the high demand for leather and tech in the local used market. The Beige exterior is a practical advantage in the UAE, staying cooler under the sun and hiding desert dust better than darker shades.

SL vs Lower Trims

The SL trim is a major step up from the SV, adding premium leather upholstery, a 12.3-inch digital digital cockpit, and a Head-Up Display that is invaluable for navigating fast-moving multi-lane highways. It also introduces the ProPILOT Assist suite and a 360-degree Around View Monitor, features that GCC buyers prioritize for safety and ease of parking in tight urban spaces. Furthermore, the SL benefits from 19-inch alloy wheels and a motion-activated power tailgate, providing a level of convenience not found in the lower 'S' or 'SV' versions.

X-Trail vs Segment Rivals

The X-Trail leads rivals like the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V by offering a usable third row of seats, providing 5+2 versatility that its competitors often lack in this footprint. Its 2.5L engine is specifically tuned for durability in high-ambient temperatures, a factor where it often outpaces smaller-displacement turbocharged European crossovers. The Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system also provides better stability on sand-swept highway exits compared to front-wheel-drive-only competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages approximately 7.8L/100km, though highway cruising across the Emirates can see this drop closer to the official 15.6 km/L rating. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km or 6 months at authorized centers like Arabian Automobiles or Al Masaood, which are ubiquitous across the UAE. The X-Trail enjoys one of the lowest depreciation rates in its segment, typically retaining about 70% of its value after three years, backed by a parts network that covers every corner of the GCC.

Performance & Capability

The 2.5L 4-cylinder engine produces 181 hp and 244 Nm of torque, delivering smooth acceleration through an Xtronic CVT that has been refined for the 2024 model year. While not a desert basher, the Intelligent AWD system features selectable modes for Snow and Gravel, making it perfectly capable of handling light wadi trails or sandy weekend parking. On the highway, the 205mm ground clearance and compliant suspension provide a refined ride that handles the long haul between cities with ease.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is centered around the EZ Flex seating system, which allows the second row to slide and recline, ensuring adult-sized legroom even when the third row is in use. Triple-zone climate control with dedicated rear vents is standard on this trim, an absolute essential for maintaining passenger comfort during the peak GCC summer. The SL trim also includes acoustic glass and enhanced sound insulation, keeping the interior quiet and isolated from road noise during high-speed highway commutes.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of the 2024 X-Trail, which carries a 5-star ANCAP rating and features the Nissan Safety Shield 360 as standard. This includes Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, all of which are vital for safety on busy multi-lane roads like Sheikh Zayed Road. The SL trim also features eight airbags and the ProPILOT system, which combines steering, accelerator, and braking assistance to reduce driver fatigue on long desert drives.

The bottom line

This 2024 X-Trail SL is the ideal choice for a family driver who wants the highest available spec and the reliability of a Japanese powertrain without the new-car showroom premium. It is a turn-key solution for anyone needing seven seats and the security of a massive regional service network.
