Summary

This 2024 Fortuner EXR represents a reliable entry into the seven-seater 4x4 segment, offering the durability of a ladder-frame chassis with recent model-year tech. The brown exterior is a sophisticated choice that holds up well against the region's dust while remaining a stable resale option in the UAE market. With mileage that aligns with typical one-year GCC driving patterns, it offers a well-maintained mechanical profile for long-term ownership. As a GCC-spec model, it is purpose-built to handle extreme summer heat with a cooling system optimized for the region. For a buyer seeking the perfect balance between a daily family commuter and a weekend desert explorer, this listing is a practical and secure investment.

This Car vs Other 2024 Fortuners

This vehicle shows mileage consistent with standard annual usage in the GCC, where highway-heavy commutes often result in higher figures than global averages. The brown paintwork offers a unique alternative to common white or silver, providing better concealment of desert dust while maintaining a strong standing in the local used market. Choosing a 2024 model ensures you benefit from the latest safety updates and interior refinements of the current generation.

EXR vs Lower Trims

The EXR trim serves as the essential 4WD gateway, providing the critical low-range transfer case and rear differential lock that lower RWD-only variants lack. It includes the 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, which are vital for navigation across the Emirates. Additionally, the EXR adds cruise control and 17-inch alloy wheels, making it significantly more highway-ready than base commercial-grade trims.

Fortuner vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Mitsubishi Montero Sport or Nissan X-Terra, the Fortuner leads with its legendary Hilux-based durability and the most widespread service availability in the region. Its 80-litre fuel tank is specifically designed for long-distance travel between Abu Dhabi and the Northern Emirates or cross-border trips. The ladder-frame construction gives it a structural advantage in genuine off-road scenarios over monocoque-based crossovers.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.7L engine averages around 10.4L/100km, which is efficient for a full-sized 4x4 in GCC stop-start traffic. Toyota continues to dominate value retention in the UAE, typically depreciating only 8-10% annually compared to 15% or more for European rivals. With authorized service centers in almost every major city across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, maintenance is convenient and parts are highly accessible. A 3-year-old Fortuner historically retains one of the highest percentages of its original MSRP in the regional market.

Performance & Capability

The Fortuner is defined by its 279 mm ground clearance, allowing it to navigate desert dunes and rocky wadi beds that would stop most family SUVs. The 2.7L powertrain is paired with a selectable 4WD system featuring both high and low-range gearing for serious recovery and climbing. While tuned for reliability, the automatic transmission provides smooth shifts for comfortable cruising on the E11 at highway speeds. It is a dual-purpose machine that feels as stable on a sand track as it does in a school pickup zone.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat layout is highly versatile, featuring a 60:40 split second row and side-folding third-row seats to maximize cargo space. The GCC-spec air conditioning system is exceptionally powerful, designed to pull down cabin temperatures rapidly even after hours in 45°C sun. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated ceiling-mounted cooling vents and fast-charging USB ports. The interior is finished in durable fabric and materials specifically chosen to resist wear from heat and sand ingress.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the EXR includes a comprehensive airbag system with a dedicated driver’s knee airbag for enhanced protection. Active safety is supported by Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC), which are essential for maintaining grip on unpredictable sandy surfaces. The inclusion of Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) and rear parking sensors provides daily peace of mind during tight city maneuvering and steep incline starts.

The bottom line

Perfect for the growing family that needs a rugged, reliable 4x4 capable of handling the daily UAE commute and weekend desert adventures with equal ease.
