Summary

This 2024 Toyota Prado TXL-2 represents the first year of the highly anticipated 250-series redesign, offering a massive leap in refinement and technology over its predecessor. With 73,000 km, this vehicle has been driven more than the GCC annual average, yet it remains a premier choice due to its indestructible diesel powertrain and unmatched parts availability across the region. The white exterior is the most sought-after color for resale in the Emirates and Saudi Arabia, effectively mitigating depreciation. For the GCC buyer, the TXL-2 trim provides the perfect balance of rugged off-road hardware and essential daily comforts like multi-zone climate control. This is the definitive choice for those who need a dependable long-distance cruiser that can transition seamlessly from city commutes to cross-border desert expeditions.

This Car vs Other 2024 Prados

While typical GCC annual mileage is high, 73,000 km in a single year reflects heavy highway use, which is often easier on the engine than stop-start city driving. The white exterior is the highest-demand color in the region, ensuring this car will sell faster and for more money than darker alternatives when you decide to upgrade.

TXL-2 vs Lower Trims

The TXL-2 trim is a significant step up from the base TX, adding high-value features such as ventilated and heated front seats, a larger 12.3-inch display audio system, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It also includes the vital center differential lock and Multi-Terrain Select system, providing the full off-road capability that lower petrol trims often lack.

Prado vs Segment Rivals

Against rivals like the Ford Everest and Mitsubishi Pajero, the Prado leads with its massive 110-litre dual-tank capacity, providing a theoretical range of over 1,400 km for long desert hauls. Its body-on-frame TNGA-F platform offers superior durability on rugged terrain compared to monocoque competitors, and its diesel torque is better suited for heavy towing.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.8L turbo-diesel engine is highly efficient for its size, averaging approximately 8.3 L/100km in combined GCC driving. Service intervals are strictly every 10,000 km or 6 months at authorized centers found in every major city from Dubai to Riyadh. Historically, the Prado holds the strongest resale value in the SUV segment, typically retaining 85-90% of its value after the first year.

Performance & Capability

With 500 Nm of torque available from just 1,600 RPM, this Prado excels at low-speed technical climbing and effortless highway overtaking. The full-time 4WD system and 221 mm ground clearance allow it to navigate 90% of typical GCC desert obstacles without modification. The 8-speed automatic transmission is finely tuned for the region's high-speed motorways, keeping RPMs low for a quiet cabin.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat cabin is designed for the Gulf climate, featuring high-output dual automatic air conditioning with dedicated rear vents to ensure all passengers stay cool in 45°C heat. Synthetic leather upholstery provides a premium feel while being durable enough to withstand sand and sun exposure. The 12.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay integration ensures modern connectivity for family road trips.

Safety

This trim is equipped with 10 airbags and the full Toyota Safety Sense suite, including adaptive cruise control and lane departure alert for safer long-distance driving. For off-road safety, it features Crawl Control and Downhill Assist Control, which manage throttle and braking automatically on steep or loose surfaces, protecting the vehicle and its occupants in challenging environments.

The bottom line

For the frequent traveler or off-road enthusiast, this diesel Prado offers the perfect combination of long-range endurance and high resale security in a modern, redesigned package.
