Summary

This 2025 GAC M8 GX is a compelling alternative to traditional executive MPVs, offering a sophisticated plug-in hybrid powertrain that is rare in the segment. With just 1 years of age, it presents a significant saving over new models while providing the same futuristic design and business-class cabin. The GX trim is highly desirable in the GCC for its comprehensive technology suite and premium materials, and the Black exterior ensures excellent resale liquidity in local markets. For buyers needing to bridge the gap between school runs and long-distance highway cruises between Emirates, this PHEV offers both zero-emission city driving and massive long-range capability. It stands out as a high-tech, efficient powerhouse that challenges the segment's established luxury benchmarks.

This Car vs Other 2025 M8s

At only 1 years old, this M8 represents a near-new ownership experience with the mechanical benefits of a modern plug-in hybrid system. In the GCC market, where annual mileage often averages 20,000 to 25,000 km, finding a young PHEV like this offers a distinct advantage in both fuel savings and future value retention. The Elegant Black exterior is one of the most sought-after colors for executive vans in the region, ensuring it remains a strong asset at resale time.

GX vs Lower Trims

The GX trim serves as the luxury-focused tier, adding critical features that GCC buyers value, such as a 360-degree camera system and upgraded interior appointments over the base GL or Premium trims. It features an expansive 14.6-inch central touchscreen paired with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, providing a far more advanced tech environment. Additionally, the GX often includes advanced ADAS safety features and enhanced seat adjustments for both the driver and front passenger that are absent on entry-level models.

M8 vs Segment Rivals

The GAC M8 competes directly with the Kia Carnival and the Toyota Alphard, leading the segment with its dedicated plug-in hybrid powertrain that offers over 100 km of pure electric range. While the Kia Carnival is a regional favorite, the M8 offers a more futuristic 'Star Diamond Prism' design language and executive-style second-row captain's chairs that rival more expensive luxury brands. Its combined range of over 1,000 km makes it exceptionally well-suited for long-haul drives from Dubai to Riyadh or Muscat without the need for frequent stops.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel efficiency is a major highlight, with official figures of 1.3 L/100km when utilizing the hybrid system and approximately 6.1 L/100km when the battery is depleted—highly efficient for a large 7-seater in GCC traffic. As a Chinese-spec vehicle in a growing market, potential buyers should note that authorized GAC service centers are expanding across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, offering reliable parts support. While Japanese rivals traditionally hold value longer, the M8's high initial specification and hybrid efficiency are helping it maintain a competitive resale profile among tech-conscious buyers.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine works in tandem with an electric motor to produce a combined 367 hp and a massive 630 Nm of torque, ensuring effortless overtaking on fast-moving UAE highways. It achieves 0–100 km/h in a respectable 8.8 seconds, delivering smooth power through a 2-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). Three selectable drive modes—Eco, Comfort, and Sport—allow the driver to tailor the MPV's response to either congested city streets or open desert roads.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a 7-seat sanctuary featuring second-row captain's chairs with electric leg rests and premium leather upholstery, ideal for executive transport or family comfort in the summer heat. A tri-zone automatic climate control system with an AQS air quality sensor ensures the entire cabin stays cool even when outdoor temperatures exceed 45°C. Soundproof glass and ambient 'Spa Mode' lighting further enhance the refinement, making long inter-city journeys feel like a first-class flight.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive on the GX trim, featuring 7 airbags including 3.2-meter long curtain airbags that extend to the third row for full passenger protection. The suite includes an L2 Advanced Driver Assistance System with Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Keep Assist, which are invaluable for maintaining safety on long, high-speed highway stretches. A 360-degree camera system and Fusion Automatic Parking Assist (FAPA) make maneuvering this large van in tight city parking structures effortless.

The bottom line

This 2025 GAC M8 GX is the ideal choice for a family or business looking for flagship luxury and modern PHEV efficiency without the premium price tag of a Lexus or Mercedes. As a 1-year-old vehicle in high-demand Black, it represents a smart, low-depreciation entry into the future of luxury mobility in the GCC.
