Highlights

• 278 hp from a 3.5-litre V6
• Extensive GCC authorised service network
• Strong value retention in the GCC used market

Summary

This 2026 Toyota Hiace GL represents the definitive choice for high-capacity transport, offering a refined V6 powertrain that is a significant step up from standard commercial vans. In the GCC market, the white exterior is the most sought-after for its superior heat reflection and market-leading resale strength. As a zero-kilometer 2026 model, it offers a fresh start with full mechanical life ahead, crucial for the demanding duty cycles typical of regional shuttle operations. The GL trim provides a distinct comfort advantage over utilitarian variants, making it suitable for both professional hospitality fleets and large families. For a GCC buyer, the unparalleled availability of parts and expert service centers across the UAE and beyond remains the strongest argument for choosing a Hiace over any rival.

This Car vs Other 2026 Hiaces

As a brand-new 2026 model, this Hiace sits at the beginning of its service life in a market where average annual mileage often exceeds 25,000 km. While many fleet units enter service with smaller four-cylinder engines, this 3.5L V6 variant is positioned as the premium performance choice. The white finish is not just a aesthetic preference but a strategic choice in the GCC, ensuring the best possible cooling efficiency and the highest liquidity when it comes time to trade in.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim upgrades the ownership experience significantly over the base DX or Commuter Standard models by adding essential creature comforts like reclining seats for passengers and an improved interior finish. Most notably for the GCC climate, the GL features a high-capacity dual air conditioning system with dedicated rear ceiling vents for every row. You also get a modern 8-inch touchscreen audio system with smartphone integration and a rear-view camera, features that are often missing on more basic workhorse versions.

Hiace vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Nissan Urvan or the Hyundai Staria, the Hiace leads with the sheer robustness of its 3.5L V6 engine and a rear-wheel-drive platform designed for longevity under heavy loads. While rivals might offer more car-like interiors, the Toyota’s cooling system is specifically tuned for extreme desert temperatures, ensuring the cabin stays chilled even during a midday July run. Furthermore, the Hiace maintains a significantly higher residual value across the UAE and Saudi Arabia due to its legendary reputation for durability.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.5L V6 engine provides smooth highway cruising but is thirstier than diesel alternatives, typically averaging between 12 and 14 L/100km in mixed GCC driving conditions. Maintenance is straightforward and highly affordable, with authorized service intervals typically set at every 10,000 km across a network that is the most dense in the region. Toyota Hiace units in the GCC historically depreciate at a much slower rate than European vans, often retaining over 80% of their value after the first three years of service.

Performance & Capability

With 278 horsepower and 351 Nm of torque, this Hiace possesses the power necessary for confident highway overtaking, even when fully loaded with passengers. The 6-speed manual transmission gives the driver total control over the power delivery, which is particularly useful when navigating the varying inclines of the Northern Emirates or Hatta. The rear-wheel-drive setup ensures excellent traction and a tighter turning circle than many all-wheel-drive competitors, aiding maneuverability in congested city hotel driveways.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured for 9+ passengers with a focus on ergonomic support for long-distance travel between emirates. High-roof architecture provides ample headroom, creating a sense of space that prevents the cabin from feeling cramped during full-capacity trips. The dual-zone climate control is a standout feature, designed to combat 45°C+ summer peaks by pushing high-velocity chilled air through independent nozzles for every seating row.

Safety

Safety is managed through a suite of standard active systems including Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control, which are essential for maintaining composure on sandy or rain-slicked roads. The vehicle is equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with Brake Assist, and Hill-start Assist Control to prevent rolling on inclines. A standard rear-view camera and tire pressure monitoring system provide the driver with extra awareness, which is vital for a vehicle of this footprint in busy urban environments.

The bottom line

This 2026 Hiace GL is the perfect opportunity for a business or large family seeking the most reliable and powerful passenger van on the market with the added peace of mind of zero mileage and full GCC specifications.
