Summary

This 2026 Kia Sonet EX represents a modern, high-spec choice for those seeking a compact SUV that punches above its weight in features. As a brand-new vehicle with the top-tier EX trim, it offers premium touches like LED lighting and an 8-inch touchscreen that are often missing in its class. White is one of the most practical and sought-after colors in the GCC, ensuring excellent heat reflection during the summer and high demand in the used market. The Sonet has quickly established itself as a GCC favorite due to its blend of high-tech cabin amenities and a powertrain designed for efficiency. For the urban commuter in Dubai or Riyadh, this vehicle provides the perfect balance of a small footprint for parking and enough clearance to handle weekend gravel paths.

This Car vs Other 2026 Sonets

As a 2026 model, this vehicle is essentially factory-fresh, offering the most up-to-date technology and safety features available in the current generation. In a market where average annual mileage often exceeds 20,000 km, starting with a zero-mileage or current-year example is a significant long-term value advantage. The White exterior is a strategic choice for the GCC, maximizing resale speed and value compared to darker or niche colors.

EX vs Lower Trims

The EX trim significantly upgrades the ownership experience over the base LX, most notably through the inclusion of high-intensity LED headlamps and 'Star Map' LED daytime running lights which offer superior visibility on unlit desert roads. Inside, you benefit from a more sophisticated 8-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone integration and a rear-view camera with dynamic guidelines. Convenience is further enhanced with a smart key system featuring remote engine start, a critical feature for cooling the cabin before entry in the Gulf heat.

Sonet vs Segment Rivals

The Kia Sonet leads competitors like the Toyota Raize and Nissan Magnite by offering a more premium-feeling interior and a larger 385-litre boot that accommodates full-sized luggage more effectively. Its 205 mm ground clearance is highly competitive, providing better peace of mind when navigating high speed bumps or sandy patches compared to lower-slung crossovers. Additionally, Kia’s inclusion of rear AC vents as standard gives it a clear comfort advantage for passengers during peak GCC summer months.

Running Costs & Resale

With a claimed combined fuel consumption of 5.7 L/100km, the 1.5L Smartstream engine is exceptionally light on the pocket, even in heavy stop-start city traffic. Kia maintains one of the most robust authorized service networks across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with standard service intervals typically set at 10,000 km. The Sonet holds its value well in the GCC, typically seeing a depreciation of only 10-12% in its first year, significantly outperforming European sub-compact rivals.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine delivers a reliable 115 hp, which is perfectly tuned for smooth city driving and steady highway cruising between emirates. The CVT transmission is designed to keep the engine in its most efficient power band, making highway overtaking predictable and safe. While it is a front-wheel-drive crossover, the 205 mm ground clearance makes it capable of handling light off-pavement excursions for weekend camping or beach trips without concern.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is surprisingly spacious for a sub-compact, featuring five comfortable seats and dedicated rear cooling vents to ensure all passengers stay cool. The EX trim includes premium touches like a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a height-adjustable driver's seat, which helps with visibility on busy multi-lane highways. Technology is front and center with a digital instrument cluster and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keeping the cockpit clutter-free and connected.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive for the segment, featuring six airbags as standard on the EX trim to protect all occupants. It comes equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), which are particularly useful when navigating the steep inclines of parking garages or sandy inclines. Additionally, the inclusion of rear parking sensors and a high-resolution camera helps prevent low-speed incidents in tight urban environments.

The bottom line

This 2026 Kia Sonet EX is the ideal match for a young professional or small family looking for a feature-rich, fuel-efficient SUV with the peace of mind that comes from a new GCC-spec vehicle.
