Toyota Fortuner EXR

Highlights

• 80-litre fuel tank capacity
• Extensive GCC authorised service network
• Strong value retention in the GCC used market

Summary

This 2026 Toyota Fortuner EXR is a practically brand-new example of the GCC’s most trusted family SUV, finished in a resale-friendly Grey that hides desert dust exceptionally well. The 2.7-litre powertrain is the go-to choice for urban families and light off-roading, offering a reliable alternative to the larger V6 without the same fuel consumption profile. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it benefits from the region's strongest service support and is perfectly suited for the intense summer heat. The body-on-frame construction ensures this SUV remains a durable long-term asset, whether used for school runs or weekend camping trips. It stands out in the pre-owned market by offering current-year technology and safety features with the immediate availability that avoids long dealer waitlists.

This Car vs Other 2026 Fortuners

As a current-model-year vehicle, this Fortuner presents in nearly showroom condition, offering a significant advantage for buyers who want a late-model SUV without the initial new-car depreciation. The Grey exterior is a highly strategic choice for the GCC market, as it maintains its aesthetic appeal through sandstorms and carries one of the strongest resale values in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Compared to higher-mileage 2026 examples often used for commercial fleets, this unit is positioned for long-term private ownership.

EXR vs Lower Trims

The EXR trim serves as the balanced entry point for the GCC, including essential local features like rear parking sensors and cruise control which are often absent on base export versions. It provides a more modern cabin experience than basic fleet specs, featuring an 8-inch infotainment display with connectivity for modern smartphones. While lower trims focus on utility, the EXR adds side steps and 17-inch alloy wheels that enhance both the exterior profile and passenger accessibility.

Fortuner vs Segment Rivals

The Fortuner leads rivals like the Mitsubishi Montero Sport and Nissan X-Terra in terms of sheer serviceability and parts availability across the entire GCC. Its body-on-frame platform, derived from the legendary Hilux, gives it a distinct edge in durability over monocoque family crossovers. The inclusion of an 80-litre fuel tank ensures fewer stops during long-distance highway drives between Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Muscat.

Running Costs & Resale

Toyota Fortuners are legendary in the GCC for their low depreciation, typically losing only 8-10% of their value annually compared to the 15%+ seen in European luxury rivals. Real-world fuel economy for the 2.7L engine averages around 10.4 km/L, which is efficient for a seven-seater 4WD in GCC stop-start traffic. With the largest authorised service network in the region, maintenance is convenient and affordable, with standard intervals every 10,000 km.

Performance & Capability

The 164 hp 2.7-litre engine is tuned for reliability and low-end torque, making it a dependable companion for highway cruising and light desert routes. Its four-wheel-drive system is specifically engineered to handle the soft sands of the Emirates and the rocky wadis of Oman with ease. The 6-speed automatic transmission provides smooth shifts for city driving while maintaining the ruggedness required for weekend adventures.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured with seven seats, featuring a versatile third row that can be folded away to accommodate large shopping hauls or camping gear. The air conditioning system is world-class, designed to cool the entire cabin even when outside temperatures exceed 45°C. Practical fabric seating is chosen for its durability and comfort in the heat, staying significantly cooler than leather during the peak summer months.

Safety

This Fortuner EXR comes equipped with essential safety systems for regional highways, including Anti-lock Braking (ABS), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. The inclusion of dual front airbags and a driver’s knee airbag provides critical protection, while ISOFIX anchors ensure the safety of younger family members. These systems work together to provide peace of mind on high-speed desert roads and in dense urban traffic alike.

The bottom line

This 2026 Fortuner EXR is the ideal opportunity for a GCC buyer seeking a current-year SUV with high resale potential and proven desert-ready durability.
