Summary

This 2026 Toyota Hiace GL represents the benchmark for passenger transport in the GCC, offering the most powerful powertrain in the segment. With its white exterior—the highest-demand color for resale across the Emirates—this bus is a strategic asset for hospitality, tourism, or corporate fleets. The GL trim provides a significant comfort jump over standard commercial variants, ensuring passenger satisfaction during long highway transits. Built with Toyota's legendary durability, it is designed to thrive in extreme summer temperatures while maintaining minimal mechanical downtime. For a buyer in the current market, this is the definitive choice for balancing high-capacity logistics with long-term value retention.

This Car vs Other 2026 Hiaces

While many Hiace listings feature the 2.8L diesel or the entry-level 2.7L engine, this 3.5L V6 version is the top-tier choice for those requiring robust highway performance and overtaking power. The white exterior is the optimal choice for the GCC climate, offering superior heat reflection and the strongest resale potential in the regional used market. As a 2026 model, it offers the latest refinements in cabin technology and safety compared to older H300 generations.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim upgrades the passenger experience with individual reclining fabric seats and a more refined interior finish compared to the utilitarian Commuter Deluxe. Key additions include a modern 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with body-colored bumpers and chrome accents that elevate the vehicle's professional appearance. It also features a superior multi-zone climate system with individual roof-mounted vents to ensure every passenger stays cool during peak summer months.

Hiace vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Urvan and Hyundai Staria, the Hiace leads with its massive 3.5L V6 output, providing 277 horsepower that makes it significantly more capable on high-speed arterial roads like Sheikh Zayed Road. The Toyota also benefits from the most extensive parts availability and service footprint in the region, ensuring lower operational costs over a five-year lifecycle. While rivals focus on styling, the Hiace remains the leader in structural durability and payload reliability.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.5L V6 averages approximately 12.4 L/100km, which is competitive for a high-output petrol bus of this size. Maintenance is remarkably straightforward, with authorized service centers available in every major city from Abu Dhabi to Riyadh and Muscat. The Hiace historically maintains one of the highest resale percentages in the GCC, typically retaining more value at the three-year mark than any of its direct competitors.

Performance & Capability

The 277 hp V6 engine provides smooth, linear acceleration that is crucial when the bus is operating at its full 9+ passenger capacity. The rear-wheel-drive layout and reinforced leaf-spring suspension are engineered specifically for heavy loads, maintaining stability even on cross-border long-distance trips. With a 70-liter fuel tank, it offers substantial range for inter-city travel between the Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured to maximize passenger comfort, featuring a wide-body design that provides ample head and legroom for all rows. A high-performance air conditioning system is standard, utilizing powerful rear cooling vents to combat 45°C+ temperatures effectively. Modern conveniences such as dual USB-C ports for passengers and a quiet, insulated cabin environment make it ideal for high-end staff transport or tourism services.

Safety

Standard safety features on this GL trim include Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Active Traction Control (ATRC), which are vital for maintaining composure on sand-dusted highways. The safety suite also includes dual front airbags, Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) for incline management, and a rear-view camera to simplify maneuvering in tight urban loading zones. Three-point seatbelts for all passengers ensure compliance with modern corporate safety standards.

The bottom line

This 2026 Hiace GL is the ideal investment for a commercial operator who refuses to compromise on power or reliability. In the GCC market, there is no better combination of passenger comfort and long-term asset value.
