2017 Audi RS3 breaks cover

Audi has already announced to spice up their lineup over the next few years. First of those models to break cover is the 2017 Audi RS3 which is set to light up its segment.

Powering the 2017 Audi RS3 is an updated 2.5-litre five cylinder twin-turbocharged petrol motor rated at 395 horsepower and 480 Nm of torque. All that power is sent to the brand’s token all-wheel drive system controlled by a dual-clutch STronicc 7-speed gearbox.

With numbers like that, the new RS3 is not to be taken lightly. We can already see the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG quaking in its boots.

Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h, but with the limiter removed, the 2017 Audi RS3 can blast to a top speed of 280 km/h while running 0-100 in a mere 4.1 seconds.

It’s not all power changes to the machine as the 2017 Audi RS3 hides more updates under its skin. The engine weighs in 26 kilos lighter than the previous model improving power-to-weight ratio, the crankcase is constructed from aluminium instead of compact graphite iron, and cylinder banks are plasma coated.

Audi has also reworked the vehicle’s suspension and also offer an optional RS Sport Suspension system. Additionally, the German brand offers carbon disk brakes for the front end instead of 370mm steel brakes.

Available as a sedan or a sportsback hatchback, Audi has yet to reveal when these updated models will hit showrooms or how much a single unit will cost.
