2018 BMW i3 receives mild update and i3s hatchback

In an effort to keep up with the hybrid/fully electric vehicle trend, the updated 2018 BMW i3 is on its way along with a ‘sportier’ variant.

Changes are rather modest for the 2018 BMW i3 as the fully electric hatchback receives a new set of full-LED headlights and some slight modifications to the exterior that BMW claim make the i3 “wider and sportier.”

BMW has also added two new colour palettes; Imperial Blue Metallic and Melbourne Red Metallic.

2018 BMW i3 adds sportier S model

New for 2018 is the i3s variant. To set the model apart from the rest of the range are accent strips and gloss black finished roof panel. Additionally, the Bavarian manufacturer has equipped sports suspension which widens the vehicle by 40mm. New 20-inch alloys adorn each corner are also wider.

The i3s benefits from a ‘sport mode.’ Pushing out 184 horsepower and 269 Nm of torque, the BMW i3s launches to 100 km/h in over 7 seconds.

Both the 2018 BMW i3 and i3s can be equipped with a small petrol engine as an optional extra. With this module attached, the i3’s range can be extended by 130 km.

Also present is the updated BMW iDrive 6 interface and ConnectedDrive. The latter directs drivers to the nearest available charging station.

As of writing, the BMW i3 is currently not available for sale in the UAE although we are inclined to believe with the recently announced electric car benefits, the 2018 BMW i3 and i3s model will silently roll into premier BMW dealerships across the country.

Dubicars.com has new BMW and used BMW for sale in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Abu Dhabi.
