2018 Ford Explorer receives minor updates

2016 trim, saw the Ford Explorer receive an update, two years down the line, it’s time for another one, and you’ll have to squint to spot changes on the 2018 Ford Explorer.

For starters, the exterior features a new grille, fog lights, unique details to the bumpers and quad tailpipes sticking out of the rear end for SUV’s with V6 motors.

Additionally, there are four new exterior colour palettes to choose from including Platinum Dune Tricoat, Burgundy Velvet Tinted Clearcoat, Blue Metallic and Cinnamon Glaze. There are five new rim designs to choose from too.

Ford have also added a Safe and Smart Package for the 2018 Ford Explorer that includes a host of driver assist features. Adaptive cruise control with collision warning, blind spot information system, lane keep assist, cross traffic alert and auto high beams.

There are now known changes to the 2018 Ford Explorer’s drivetrain. Base models continue to be powered by a 2.3-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder motor with 280 horsepower. Sport and Platinum models stick with a 3.5-litre V6 EcoBoost rated at 365 hp.

Stateside owners also benefit from the 4G modem complete with a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot that allows up to 10 devices to connect. The same connection can also be used by the FordPass app to remotely lock, unlock, start and locate the vehicle.

2018 Ford Explorer SUV’s are destined to launch later this year in North America with other markets following shortly afterwards or early 2018.
