2018 Ford Mustang to boast new face and 10-speed gearbox

Mid-cycle refreshes aren’t a rare occurrence as not only does it keep the vehicle looking younger, it saves the automotive brand a bit of money for them to put aside to develop a brand new version a few years later. The 2018 Ford Mustang has recently been tagged as receiving the treatment

As with every facelifted model, we expect the pony car to get a new grille, light housings in the front and back and reworked bumpers at both ends. All three engines are being kept, the 2.3-litre EcoBoost four cylinder, 3.7-litre V6 and the beastly 5.0-litre V8 as is the choice of transmissions, with manual and automatic being part of the deal.

That being said, they will be an optional 10-speed automatic transmission that will most likely be an option for the V8 models. Considering the upcoming Camaro models will feature a similar unit, it brings the fight for muscle car supremacy even closer. Let’s hope Dodge announce a similar transmission shortly.

It’s also expected for the interior options to receive a minor overhaul, which could mean Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are on the way.

While no pictures of the model have surfaced, rumours are circulating that the 2018 Ford Mustang with its new front end is expected to debut at the 2016 LA Auto Show in November or the 2017 Detroit Auto Show early next year.
