2020 Nissan GT-R Nismo is the “ultimate track and street vehicle”

With the New York Auto Show in full swing, Nissan has a wide range of vehicles on show including some 50th-anniversary specials. But the biggest head-turner at Japanese auto manufacturers stand is the 2020 Nissan GT-R Nismo.

The range-topping GT-R receives a range of updates cosmetically and mechanically of which Nissan claims the latest iteration of their flagship sports car is “the ultimate track and street vehicle.”

Starting with the visual changes, upfront, the new front fenders echoing the ones found on the GT-R GT3 race car and new sculpted air vents placed in the front wheel arches extracts hot air from the engine bay. Additionally, the new carbon roof has been constructed with a new compression process, allowing for a tighter and lighter weave.

On each corner, the 2020 Nissan GT-R Nismo gets a new exclusive set of lighter 20-inch RAYS forged aluminium wheels wrapped in performance rubber featuring a wider track and fewer grooves.

For 2020, the GT-R Nismo has shed 30 kgs thanks to the use of carbon fibre exterior panels and weight saving new components and upgrades.

Does the 2020 Nissan GT-R Nismo exert more power?

Power figures remain identical to the 2019MY which means the twin-turbo 3.8-litre V6 engine produces a cool 600 horsepower and 652 Nm of torque.

Although the power figures remain unchanged, the 2020 Nissan GT-R Nismo does get the same turbochargers used on the GT-R GT3 race car and features fewer blades and a modified turbine shape.

The six-speed dual-clutch gearbox receives updated software which improves the adaptive shift control system and refines the “R” mode. Finally, there’s a revised titanium exhaust system.

Pricing and availability for the 2020MY have not been publicly revealed.
