BMW detail M550i xDrive and 530e iPerformance

Last year, BMW answered all our questions about an M5 successor, and with its launch date around the corner, the German brand has dropped juicy information of the M550i xDrive and another 5-series sedan.

M550i xDrive cars need just four seconds to sprint to 100 km/h from standstill which is 0.3 seconds faster than the outgoing M5 models. With 456 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque on tap thanks to a twin-turbocharged V8, all-wheel drive is the key to push the vehicle to 100 so quickly proving traction is more important than power.

Previous versions of the M5 sedan weighed in with mighty 4.4-litre V8 twin-turbocharged petrol motor with 552 horsepower with 680 Nm spewing out of the rear tailpipes.

The other 5-series model in question is the 530e iPerformance. Not only does it sport the brand’s latest 5-series design language, but it also packs quite a potent powertrain and an optional wireless charger to do the needful.

530e iPerformance models boast a 2-litre four cylinder turbocharged unit aided by an electric motor to produce 248 horsepower. This combination allows the sedan to reach 100 in a little over six seconds with a top speed just shy of 250 km/h.

No launch date for the M550i xDrive and 530e iPerformance has been specified, but it shouldn’t be too far off now. Pricing hasn’t been confirmed either for the two models.
