Chery’s Luxeed R7 With 1,673 KM Range Launched: Could It Arrive In The UAE?

Huawei and Chery have joined forces once again to unveil the all-new Luxeed R7 EREV. Launched in China under the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), the R7 is built to stand out in the growing smart EV segment. 

With a possible launch in the UAE, this range-extended electric vehicle offers a compelling choice for tech-savvy drivers looking for performance, comfort, and long-distance capability. In China, the Luxeed R7 Max starts at ¥299,800 (approx. AED 151,800), while the top-spec Ultra is priced at ¥319,800 (approx. AED 162,000).

Electric Powertrain and Performance 

The Luxeed R7 EREV is built on Huawei’s advanced 400V Giant Whale architecture and features a highly efficient range-extended powertrain. The Max variant is powered by a 227kW rear electric motor, delivering 304 hp, while the Ultra model adds a 155kW front motor for a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. This gives the R7 Ultra a total system output of 512hp and rapid acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds.

Supporting this is a 1.5T four-cylinder range-extender engine and a 53.4 kWh ternary lithium battery. The Max version offers a pure electric range of 360 km and a combined range of up to 1,673 km (CLTC). The Ultra variant delivers a pure electric range of 331 km and a total range of 1,551 km. Charging is quick and efficient — the battery charges from 20% to 80% in just 15 minutes using Huawei’s fast-charging system.

Exterior Design

The Luxeed R7 EREV features a sleek, coupe-style SUV design with a refined and futuristic appeal. At the front, it showcases a smooth, closed grille design typical of electric vehicles, flanked by slim LED headlamps that stretch towards the sides. The integrated LED daytime running lights add a modern and dynamic touch to its face.

The side profile highlights flowing lines and a coupe-like roofline that slopes gently towards the rear, enhancing its aerodynamic look. It includes flush door handles and chrome accents, giving the vehicle a clean and elegant finish. Large alloy wheels and pronounced wheel arches add to its confident road presence.

At the rear, the R7 stands out with a full-width LED light bar that blends into the bodywork, creating a high-tech look. A roof-mounted spoiler and optional rear diffuser with a wing (available in the sports package) give it a sporty edge.
