McLaren reportedly working on 720S Long Tail

By now you’ve heard of McLaren’s new super series involving the breathtaking 720S. With the supercar officially unveiled and MSO working on a hotter version of it, McLaren is reportedly working on a 720S Long Tail.

After the success of the 675LT, it’s a no-brainer McLaren would launch a 720S Long Tail somewhere along the production line. What does this mean for the 720S?

You’ll see all of the eye-catching bodywork remain, however, the rear end will be slightly modified hence the Long Tail moniker. Regarding power outputs, regular 720S models pump out 710 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque. A slight increase wouldn’t come as a surprise for the Long Tail version.

It won’t be easy for the British manufacturer as they’ll have to fight off the Lamborghini Huracan Performante, Ford GT and a hardcore version of the Ferrari 488 that the Italians have hidden behind closed doors.

McLaren has yet to announce when exactly we’ll see the 720S Long Tail uncloaked. Don’t expect it anytime soon either as the brand wants to give the standard model enough breathing room before the model debuts.

But wait, there’s more to roll out of the factory. On top of the 720S Long Tail, McLaren is seriously considering a hardcore version of the 570S. While details remain scarce of the project, you can expect the vehicle to be lighter, faster and more powerful than ‘base’ models.
