McLaren would like to invite those with deep pockets to create a sports car like no other on the road. Sure, you could go for a McLaren P1 or P1 GTR, but where is the uniqueness in that.
The British-based brand believes that commissioning these one-off creations prove useful when it comes to research and development as they can learn and potentially implement what they have learned into newer models.
McLaren says that they can build their customers custom McLaren’s in 18 to 24 months and offer those who do so to keep their design a secret. Why anyone would want to do that is beyond us as the owner will have a truly remarkable one of one sports car.
Maybe it’s to stop others from copying their design.
Till date, McLaren Special Operations have built one customer vehicle. Back in 2012, they made the X-1. Based on the MP4 12C, this one off featured new body panels that include hydraulically operated rear wheel covers that can only be compared to something out of a comic book.
With the brand continuously growing over the years, McLaren has said they can build two to three bespoke models every year. So what are you waiting for, get your one-off McLaren today!
