Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 Review: The Evergreen Luxury SUV

The evolving ML-Class in the 2000s encouraged Mercedes-Benz to offer a new SUV creating a new nomenclature. In 2015, the GLE plate officially replaced the M-Class to reflect its focus on luxury and on-road performance.

In 2019, GLE received a minor facelift with several interior and exterior upgrades. It remains a popular choice in the mid-size luxury SUV segment, offering a blend of comfort, performance, and technology. In our review of the Mercedes-Benz GLE 450, we find out why.

Feature Model Details

We found this Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 for sale on DubiCars by Dubai 2000 and reviewed it. This SUV is decked in white and comes with stunning-looking 21-inch alloy wheels. It is a standard-spec 2020 model of the GLE 450 that has clocked decent miles on the ODO.

Exterior Design

Compared to its predecessor model, the 2020 GLE boasts a more aggressive stance. A large, diamond-shaped grille dominates the front fascia, with the Mercedes-Benz star emblem prominently displayed.

The sculpted hood, large air intake, and 21-inch alloy wheels add to the dynamic appearance and enhance the sporty character. Chrome accents, LED lighting, and a signature grille contribute to a premium feel.

The stunning piece of design on the SUV is its wrap-around rear windscreen that gives the roof a floating look. The sleek taillamps reminded us of the S-Class.

Interior Design

The 2020 GLE’s interior seamlessly blends luxury, technology, and spaciousness. The cabin features high-quality materials like leather, wood trim, and soft-touch plastics, creating a premium feel.

Our review unit was decked in a beige and black colour scheme, and along with the panoramic sunroof and the ambient lightning, it provided a fresh and airy feel to the cabin. Seats on the SUV are highly adjustable at the front and provide ample comfort for passengers at the rear.

Taking centre stage are the dual 12.3-inch displays stacked next to each other for infotainment and instrument cluster functions. The instrument cluster is highly customisable providing a ton of vital information to the driver.

Max Power362hp

Driving Impressions

The 3.0-litre engine provides ample acceleration for everyday driving and highway cruising. The 9-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly and responds well to driver input. However, the Sport+ mode could feel a little jerky. The all-wheel-drive system ensures confident handling and grip in various weather conditions.

The Airmatic suspension on the GLE 450 manages to hide the body weight well to provide a smooth and balanced ride. The suspension system effectively absorbs bumps and road imperfections, providing a plush ride for occupants. Excellent sound insulation keeps the cabin quiet and minimizes road noise.

Although the GLE 450 might bring you a step closer to the S-Class, there are chances that you will stay where you are driving this beauty on wheels, forever.
