Next-gen BMW i8 to be fully electric

Not too long ago, BMW unveiled their i Series models inclusive of the BMW i8 and i3. Even though the German Manufacturer is looking to expand the line-up, they are currently working on the next generation of the vehicles already part of the range.

Second Generation BMW i8 models are expected to arrive sometime in 2022 or 2023 according to reports. In said report, the Bavarian brand is considering removing the 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol motor mated to an electric motor currently generating 362 horsepower. In the next generation, BMW is planning to drop the petrol unit and adding additional electric motors that are reported to exert a mega 750 horsepower when combined!

With an output such as that, not only does the power much its looks, but the i8 goes from entry level Porsche 911 fighter to Tesla Model S rival just like that.

Besides, the monumental amounts of power spewing out of the rear end, upcoming i8’s are said to be all-wheel drive to keep the vehicle planted to the ground along with four-wheel steering and an enhanced torque vectoring program.

With the additional electric motor, battery life is expected to reach 482 km’s on a single charge. There is also a high possibility that the hybrid sports car will gain autonomous features, active suspension system and new technology to read road signs and scan the tarmac in front to adjust the vehicle alone.

Aside from all of that, we expect BMW will turn their attention to the exterior, re-working it to match all that power.
