Nissan 370Z successor outed, will bare the 400Z moniker

As of late, rumours have circulated the end of the 370Z is imminent and that its successor will be a crossover.  Yes, the end is near but the crossover thing, that won’t happen as the so-called 400Z will indeed stay true to its Z heritage and stick with the coupe body type.

Not much is known of the 400Z as of writing although the standard version will be fitted with a six-cylinder motor rated at 475 horsepower and 475 Nm of torque.

Sitting atop the entire 400Z range will be a NISMO variant with a tuned 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine rated at an impressive 475 horsepower and 611 Nm of torque. Reports suggest this version of the two-seater coupe will benefit from an all-wheel drivetrain and will arrive in 2021.

When to expect the 400Z

Sources go on to claim the 400Z will be shown off in concept form at the 2018 Tokyo Motor Show. However, there is no Tokyo Motor show this year, but there is a 2018 Tokyo auto salon. If that is the case, it may seem out of place as the auto salon serves as a destination to show off aftermarket and performance vehicles.

Further reading revealed that a production version would make its debut at the 2019 Los Angeles auto show to celebrate 50 years of Z cars.

It looks like there is still life in the 370Z after all.

Don’t get too attached to the 400Z name just yet as that is also to be confirmed.
