Performance derived 2017 Yaris gets named and an engine

Heading for Geneva in just two weeks time,  we can’t wait to see the 2017 Yaris with performance enhancements. Not only is it confirmed for the show, but it’s also been given a name and Toyota have released new information about its name.

Of course, it will retain the Yaris name and seeing as Gazoo Racing has their hand in the production phase, GRMN has been added to its full name.

What does that even mean, though? It makes no sense! Actually, it does make sense as the group of letters are a shortened version of Gazoo Racing Masters of the Nurburgring.

As for the front wheels, those will be powered by an already confirmed 205 horsepower produced from a newly approved 1.8-litre supercharged petrol motor mounted in the front.

With numbers suggested, the 2017 Yaris GRMN indeed serves as a worthy competitor to the Ford Focus ST, Volkswagen GTi and Renault Clio 200.

Concept renderings show off the vehicle with two doors and aggressive styling all around. We love the 2017 Yaris GRMN’s nature, but we’re a little worried about the two doors as these models are not sold officially in the region.

Perhaps with the Yaris being such a prolific vehicle in the GCC, two-door 2017 Yaris GRMN models could slide into dealerships. If not, you could import one from Europe.

No price tag or official release date has been attached to the vehicle. We expect more to be revealed in Switzerland. Until then we have a fine collection of new Toyota Yaris and used Toyota Yaris for sale in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Ajman.
