Porsche power drives the new Audi S8

Audi has been on a rampage lately showcasing what to expect of the new A8 and leads many to ponder what about the Audi S8? Will it receive similar or identical updates? Our thoughts are yes, they probably will. But as of now, we are unsure what to expect inside and out.

However, we can tell you what’s underneath. Sources indicate Porsche performance will power the new Audi S8 and that’s not the end of the similarities. Next-gen Audi A8 models are based on the Panamera as will the new S8’s which would comfortable hold any Panamera engine up front.

While no power outputs have been confirmed, current iterations of the Panamera Turbo pump out 550 horsepower, 37 more hp than the current S8 V8’s.

As for the Audi S8 Plus, rumour has it that model will be replaced by the Hybrid moniker instead and would benefit from Porsche’s potent hybrid powertrain rated at 680 horsepower! A healthy boost of almost 100 hp compared to the current generation plus models.

None of this is set in stone as of writing and there is the potential of these numbers being revised once installed into the new S8.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise seeing as they are part of the same company and in previous iterations of the Audi S8, engineers have dropped a 5.2-lite V10 borrowed from the Lamborghini Gallardo and a V8 twin-turbo lifted straight from the Bentley Continental GT.

Dubicars.com has used Audi S8 for sale in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
