Sandstorm Al Reem launches in Abu Dhabi

Zarooq and Jannarally are two names that spring to mind when thinking of UAE automotive brands. You can add one more to the list as this past week the Sandstorm Al Reem was unveiled and is the first Emirati SUV. Marked as ‘Made in the UAE’, the 4×4 will be first made available in local markets before expanding into the rest of the Arab region by 2019.

Sandstorm Al Reem, taking the UAE by storm

Power comes courtesy of a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and will presumably be available with various outputs suitable for different consumer segments.

Little is known about the Sandstrom Al Reem at this time, however, several videos have started to surface online giving us an indication of what to expect. So far, we’ve spotted a rear entertainment package, sunroof, leather upholstery, cruise control, climate control and an analogue clock.

The company will build 1,000 cars in the first phase followed by a 6,000 piece run in the second phase. Without the Al Reem hitting showrooms, Sandstrom already has plans to launch a pickup known as the S24.

The Sandstorm Al Reem will start production by the end of the year to coincide with Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030, which encourages the growth of industrial and manufacturing sectors across the nation’s capital.
