Smart radar in UAE captial will soon detect expired registration

Police in the UAE capital (Abu Dhabi) has issued a warning to all motorists currently using the road networks. Come mid-April, smart radar systems placed on roads running through and around the Emirate will scan number plates and check for expired registration.

Vehicle owners caught by these smart radar systems with expired registration will be issued an AED 500 fine, have their vehicle impounded and receive four black points.

The new system will start on the 15th of April 2018. If you have an expired registration or insurance, ensure you renew it as soon as possible in order not to incur a fine.

The addition of this system aims to reduce the human effort and time at the traffic department to focus on road safety for motorists across the country.
