What has this 2017 Dodge Ram got hiding under the bonnet?

Chevrolet, Dodge and Ford are three of the biggest auto manufacturers not only in America but the entire world. They continue to scrap over supremacy throughout many segments, and that includes pickups. Ford’s Raptor currently dominates the extreme offroad consumer trucks. However, the 2017 Dodge Ram Runner may have something to bring Ford from atop the dune.

Unveiled as a concept, Dodge has unleashed the TRX concept which has all the right gimmicks to pull off the offroad look but what it has underneath the bonnet will make your eyes water, and your ear drums explode.

You know the Dodge Hellcat engine right? Well, that’s underneath the hood of this truck! With its 6.2-litre displacement and eight cylinders, 575 horsepower is pushed out of the exhaust system.

Ok, so it’s not 707 horsepower that the sedan and coupe’s the brand produces but it’s still an astonishing 125 horses the Raptor doesn’t have.

To ensure you that it’s not just a bag of hot air, the 2017 Dodge Ram Runner TRX rides on thick offroad tires which are controlled by an 8-speed automatic gearbox, LED light bar mounted on the roof, fleshed out body panels and higher ground clearance. Dodge has also updated the drive mode selector which now includes Baja mode that will enable the driver to hit over 100 km/h on non-asphalt terrains.

For the time being, this is only a concept. However, Dodge is looking at the potential of putting it into production as a fully fledged model. We can say that we would like to see this go into production and seeing as how popular the Ford Raptor and power are in the UAE, we are not alone.
