Peugeot Boxer L4H3

Highlights

• 17 cubic metres cargo volume
• 1,995 kg maximum payload capacity
• 90-litre fuel tank standard

Summary

This Peugeot Boxer L4H3 is a dedicated workhorse, offering the largest possible body configuration available for the model year. With a high-roof design and the longest available wheelbase, it provides an exceptional cargo volume of 17 cubic metres, making it a top choice for logistics and conversion projects in the GCC. The 270,000 km mileage is average for a 15-year-old commercial vehicle in this region, where long-distance highway hauls are standard. Finished in white, the most popular and heat-reflective color in the UAE, it maintains strong resale appeal for business owners. Its manual transmission and robust diesel engine are specifically preferred for their durability in demanding GCC climates.

This Car vs Other 2011 Boxers

At 270,000 km, this Boxer has been utilized at a rate of approximately 18,000 km per year, which is below the typical 25,000 km average for commercial vans in the GCC. The L4H3 trim is the rarest and most desirable configuration in the used market due to its maximum height and length. The white exterior is the ideal choice for regional resale, offering the best protection against solar heat soak during summer months.

L4H3 vs Lower Trims

The L4H3 represents the pinnacle of the Boxer's utility, adding significant vertical and horizontal space over the standard L2H2 trims commonly found in the UAE. It provides a full 2.17-meter internal standing height, allowing most adults to walk upright inside, a feature that lower H1 or H2 trims lack. This specific trim also utilizes the heavy-duty chassis, supporting a payload capacity nearly double that of the entry-level short-wheelbase variants.

Boxer vs Segment Rivals

The Boxer leads the 2011 Ford Transit and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter in pure volumetric efficiency, offering a wider load floor between the wheel arches. Its front-wheel-drive layout allows for a lower loading sill than rear-wheel-drive competitors, which is a major advantage for frequent urban deliveries. While rivals may offer more tech, the Boxer’s mechanical simplicity and parts commonality with the Fiat Ducato make it easier to maintain across the wider GCC network.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this diesel powertrain averages approximately 8.6 L/100km, which is highly competitive for a van of this scale. In the GCC, the Boxer benefits from an extensive authorized service network through regional distributors, ensuring parts like filters and brake components are readily available. While European vans generally see higher depreciation than Japanese rivals, the L4H3 body style holds its value better due to high demand for mobile workshops and camper conversions. Maintenance intervals are typically scheduled every 10,000 km to ensure engine longevity in high-temperature environments.

Performance & Capability

The 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine is tuned for torque rather than top speed, providing the necessary pull for a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,000 kg. On GCC highways, the 6-speed manual gearbox allows for efficient cruising, easily maintaining 100-120 km/h even when fully loaded. With a massive 4.07-meter floor length, this van can accommodate four standard Euro pallets with room to spare. The heavy-duty suspension is designed to handle the variable road surfaces found on cross-border logistics routes between the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a three-across seating layout, designed for a driver and two passengers, with a focus on ergonomic utility. The air conditioning system is built to handle the extreme 45°C+ temperatures of the GCC summer, featuring powerful blowers and wide-angle vents. Large wing mirrors with integrated blind-spot sections are essential for navigating the multi-lane highways of Dubai and Riyadh. Despite its commercial nature, the interior offers multiple storage compartments and a fold-down center seat that doubles as a workspace.

Safety

Standard safety features for this GCC-spec trim include anti-lock braking (ABS) and electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), which are critical for maintaining stability when hauling heavy payloads. The high-sitting driving position provides excellent forward visibility over passenger traffic. The vehicle is also equipped with a driver-side airbag and reinforced side-impact beams within the large sliding doors.

The bottom line

This 15-year-old Boxer is the ultimate choice for a buyer needing maximum cargo volume without the premium price of a newer model. Its rare L4H3 configuration makes it a standout opportunity for a business looking to expand their fleet or an enthusiast starting a professional van conversion.
