• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe GL represents a practical entry point into the seven-seater SUV segment, finished in a resale-friendly Grey that hides desert dust effectively. As a GCC-spec model, it is factory-equipped to handle the region's extreme summer heat with a robust cooling system and dedicated rear-passenger climate vents. While its mileage is higher than average, this generation is known for its mechanical simplicity and the widespread availability of affordable spare parts across the UAE and wider GCC. It serves as a reliable family workhorse for those prioritizing seating capacity and long-term serviceability over complex electronics. The 2.4L engine provides a balanced mix of city drivability and highway cruising efficiency for inter-emirate travel.

This Car vs Other 2013 Santa Fes

With 470,000 km, this vehicle has served significantly more than the typical GCC average of 25,000 km per year, suggesting a life of consistent highway use. The Grey exterior is one of the strongest resale colors in the local market, offering a distinct advantage for future trade-ins compared to brighter shades. Its GCC specification ensures that the engine and air conditioning are calibrated for local fuel grades and high ambient temperatures.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim provides the essential 7-seat configuration that is a primary driver of value in the GCC used market. It includes key family-focused features over the base 5-seat variants, such as third-row climate vents and a sliding second row for adjustable legroom. You also benefit from standard safety inclusions like Electronic Stability Control and Hill-start Assist, which are vital for both city flyovers and gravel tracks.

Santa Fe vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Fortuner or Mitsubishi Pajero of the same era, the Santa Fe offers a more car-like monocoque ride quality, making it more comfortable for daily school runs and highway commutes. While rivals may offer more off-road hardware, the Santa Fe leads in cabin refinement and ease of parking due to its tighter turning circle. It remains a top choice for families who need the extra seats without the bulk of a traditional body-on-frame 4x4.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.4L powertrain is compatible with Mogas 91, helping keep fuel costs manageable during long-distance driving. Real-world fuel consumption typically averages around 10.5 L/100km in mixed GCC driving conditions. Hyundai maintains one of the most extensive authorized service networks across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring that maintenance is convenient and parts are rarely on backorder. While depreciation is higher than Japanese competitors, the Santa Fe’s lower entry price makes it a high-value choice for budget-conscious buyers.

Performance & Capability

The 2.4L 4-cylinder engine is tuned for durability and smooth power delivery during steady highway cruising between cities. It features a Driver Selectable Steering Mode (DSSM), allowing you to adjust steering weight between Comfort, Normal, and Sport modes depending on the environment. With a ground clearance of approximately 185 mm, it easily handles high speed bumps and unpaved weekend parking areas found across the Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is designed for family logistics, featuring 40/20/40 split-bench second-row seats that slide to prioritize either cargo or passenger space. The air conditioning system is specifically designed for the Middle East, featuring high-output vents that reach the third row to ensure all seven passengers remain cool during July peaks. Sound insulation is notable for the segment, providing a quiet environment for long road trips across the borders.

Safety

This model earned a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, highlighted by high scores in adult and child occupant protection. Standard safety features for this GCC trim include multiple airbags, ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution, and Downhill Brake Control. These systems provide essential stability during sudden stops on fast-moving highways or when navigating rain-slicked roads during the winter season.

The bottom line

Perfect for a large family or a high-mileage commuter who needs a durable, 7-seat SUV with a proven track record of GCC reliability and easy maintenance.
