Summary

This Mercedes Benz S63 AMG represents the pinnacle of high-performance luxury sedans, offering a rare combination of executive comfort and supercar-matching speed. Given its age and mileage, this vehicle has been driven roughly 13,300 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC average of 20,000 to 25,000 km, making it a mechanically fresh choice for its vintage. The classic Black exterior remains the most sought-after color for executive sedans in the UAE and wider GCC, ensuring the strongest possible resale value when you decide to upgrade. Choosing an S63 AMG over the standard S-Class models provides you with the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system and a hand-assembled powertrain that turns a daily commute into an event. For a GCC buyer, the most important consideration is the European specification, which ensures the vehicle was built to high quality standards while requiring a focused look at the cooling system's performance in our extreme summer heat. This car stands out because it offers 585 hp of German engineering in a package that looks as professional in the Dubai International Financial Centre as it does at a weekend resort in Fujairah.

This Car vs Other 2014 S63 AMGs

When comparing this specific 2014 model to others currently available in the regional market, the primary advantage is its odometer reading. At approximately 133,500 km, this vehicle sits well below the typical 200,000 km threshold often seen on ten-year-old luxury sedans in the GCC, where long-distance highway commutes are the norm. The Black-on-Black color configuration is the gold standard for the S-Class, providing a timeless aesthetic that avoids the rapid depreciation associated with more niche or bright colors in the secondary market. As a European spec vehicle, it may feature interior material combinations or technology packages that were not standard on GCC-delivered units, offering a unique cabin experience for the discerning owner. While GCC buyers often prefer local specs for peace of mind, a well-maintained European import like this one often comes from an environment with strictly regulated service histories, providing a high level of mechanical confidence for the next owner. The all-wheel-drive configuration is particularly valuable for maintaining stability during the occasional but heavy coastal rainstorms or when traversing sandy patches on rural roads.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

Stepping into the S63 AMG trim from a standard S500 or S400 completely transforms the character of the vehicle from a soft cruiser to a precision instrument. This trim includes the legendary hand-built 5.5L Biturbo V8, an engine that is signed by a single engineer, providing a level of exclusivity that lower trims simply cannot match. Beyond the engine, the AMG-specific tuning of the AIRMATIC suspension provides much better body control during high-speed cornering, which is essential for the fast-moving interchanges found in major GCC cities. You also gain high-performance brakes and the AMG SPEEDSHIFT transmission, which offers much faster gear changes than the standard luxury-oriented gearboxes. Inside, the AMG trim upgrades the experience with more supportive multicontour seats that are essential for long drives from Abu Dhabi to Muscat, along with carbon fiber or piano black trim elements that distinguish the cabin as a performance-oriented space. The 360-degree camera system and upgraded Burmester audio are typically standard at this level, providing the tech-heavy environment that modern buyers expect.

S63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The S63 AMG primarily competes with the BMW M760Li and the Audi S8, but it maintains a distinct lead in terms of brand prestige and presence within the GCC market. While the BMW focuses on a more clinical, tech-heavy driving experience, the Mercedes Benz offers a more visceral engine note and a more opulent interior design that resonates with the regional preference for 'traditional luxury.' The Audi S8 provides excellent grip with its Quattro system, but the S63 AMG's 585 hp output and 4MATIC system provide a more dramatic sense of acceleration that is highly prized on the UAE's long, open highways. Mercedes Benz also boasts one of the largest fuel tanks in this segment, which is a significant practical advantage for those frequently driving across the border to Saudi Arabia or between Emirates. The air conditioning system in the S-Class is historically robust, often outperforming its European rivals in maintaining a chilled cabin temperature when the external thermometer hits 50°C. Ultimately, the S-Class has better parts availability across the GCC than its rivals, making it the more logical long-term choice.

Running Costs & Resale

Operating a high-performance 5.5L V8 in the GCC is made more manageable by relatively stable fuel prices, though buyers should expect real-world consumption of about 14-16L per 100km in mixed city and highway driving. Because this is a European spec car, it is vital to use high-octane Super 98 fuel to maintain the engine's health and prevent knocking in the high heat of the summer. Maintenance should occur every 15,000 km or once a year, with authorized service centers located conveniently across the UAE, including major facilities in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi. While European spec cars can see a slightly sharper depreciation than GCC spec models—typically around 15% annually at this age—the S63 AMG is a desirable enthusiast model that often finds a buyer quickly. Parts are widely available through both official dealerships and specialized independent garages, ensuring that upkeep doesn't require long wait times for imported components. The value of this specific car is bolstered by its black-on-black color scheme, which remains the most liquid asset in the used luxury car market.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this vehicle is the 585 hp V8 engine that propels this massive sedan from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds, a figure that places it in the company of dedicated sports cars. This immense power is managed by the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system, which is crucial for putting all that torque onto the tarmac without wheelspin, especially on the dusty road surfaces common in the region. On the highway, the S63 AMG is an effortless cruiser, with enough mid-range torque to make overtaking at 120 km/h feel instantaneous and safe. The transmission features multiple modes, including a 'Comfort' setting that smooths out the shifts for city traffic and a 'Sport' mode that sharpens the throttle response for a more engaging drive. Despite its performance credentials, the car retains a high level of ground clearance for a sedan, allowing it to navigate the speed bumps and ramps of underground parking garages in Dubai Mall or the Burj Khalifa without issue. It is a car designed to cover vast distances at high speeds while keeping the driver completely isolated from the stresses of the road.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin of the 2014 S63 AMG is a masterclass in ergonomic design, featuring a five-seat layout with ample legroom for both front and rear passengers. Given the GCC climate, the high-capacity climate control system is a standout feature, utilizing multiple sensors to ensure even cooling across the cabin even when parked in direct sunlight. The seats are typically equipped with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, providing a spa-like environment that is particularly appreciated after a long day of meetings or during a cross-country road trip. The insulation is world-class, with double-glazed windows effectively cutting out the wind noise that can be intrusive at 140 km/h on the E11 highway. The Burmester Surround Sound system provides an immersive audio experience, while the ambient lighting system can be customized to suit the driver's mood. Every surface is finished in premium leather, wood, or metal, creating a tactile experience that justifies its position at the top of the Mercedes Benz hierarchy. The boot space is generous, easily accommodating several large suitcases for airport runs or golf bags for a weekend at the club.

Safety

Safety in the S63 AMG is comprehensive, featuring a suite of advanced driver assistance systems that were years ahead of their time in 2014. It includes adaptive cruise control, which is incredibly useful for maintaining a safe distance during the heavy traffic of the morning commute between Sharjah and Dubai. Blind-spot monitoring and lane-keeping assist provide an extra layer of protection on the multi-lane highways where fast-moving vehicles can appear suddenly. The car is equipped with a sophisticated Pre-Safe system that can detect an impending collision and prepare the cabin by tensioning seatbelts and closing windows. With a full complement of airbags and a reinforced passenger cell, it offers some of the best crash protection in its class. Additionally, the high-performance AMG braking system provides significantly shorter stopping distances than standard sedans, a critical safety factor when navigating the unpredictable traffic patterns found in major metropolitan areas.

The bottom line

This S63 AMG is the ideal choice for a professional who demands supercar performance without sacrificing the prestige and comfort of a flagship sedan. With its low mileage for the year and highly desirable black-on-black specification, it represents a high-value entry point into the world of elite AMG ownership in the UAE.
