Toyota Land Cruiser VXR 5.7 L

Highlights

• 362 hp from a 5.7L V8 engine
• Low-range transfer case with locking differentials
• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This 2015 Land Cruiser VXR represents one of the most durable and high-spec iterations of the legendary 200-series, particularly valued in the GCC for its massive 5.7L V8 engine. With 143,000 km, it sits well below the typical 200,000+ km usage often seen for this age in the region, offering significant life ahead for a powertrain known to exceed 500,000 km. The Green exterior is a distinctive choice that stands out in a market dominated by white and silver, yet retains the prestige associated with the top-tier VXR badge. For the serious buyer, the VXR's combination of advanced suspension and premium cabin tech makes it the definitive choice for long-distance family travel across the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2015 Land Cruisers

At 143,000 km, this vehicle has been driven roughly 15,000 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km for large SUVs. While most 2015 models in the market feature the smaller 4.6L engine, this unit carries the flagship 5.7L V8, providing a substantial power advantage for highway overtaking and heavy sand driving. The unique Green paintwork offers a rare alternative for buyers looking to deviate from the standard palette without compromising the high resale liquidity inherent to the Land Cruiser brand.

VXR vs Lower Trims

The VXR trim is a major step up from the GXR, replacing the 4.6L engine with the more potent 362 hp 5.7L V8 and a more advanced 8-speed automatic transmission. Inside, the VXR gains ventilated front seats and a premium 14-speaker JBL audio system, both of which are highly coveted for comfort during the peak GCC summer. Additionally, the VXR typically includes a 360-degree camera system and Multi-Terrain Select, features that provide far greater confidence when navigating tight urban parking or technical desert trails.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

The Land Cruiser VXR primarily competes with the Nissan Patrol LE and the Lexus LX 570. While the Patrol offers slightly more peak horsepower, the Land Cruiser leads the segment in long-term durability and the sheer density of its service network, with parts available in almost every town across the GCC. Its body-on-frame construction and Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) allow it to handle extreme heat and corrugated desert tracks with a level of structural integrity that few monocoque rivals can match.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.7L V8 is a robust engine designed for longevity rather than outright frugality, typically averaging 14–16 L/100km in mixed GCC driving conditions. Maintenance is straightforward, with standard 10,000 km service intervals supported by an unrivaled network of authorized centers from Al-Futtaim in the UAE to Abdul Latif Jameel in KSA. In the local used market, the Land Cruiser remains the gold standard for value retention, typically losing only 8–10% of its value annually, significantly outperforming European luxury SUV rivals.

Performance & Capability

The flagship 5.7L V8 delivers 362 hp and a massive 530 Nm of torque, allowing this heavy SUV to reach 100 km/h in approximately 7 seconds. This power is paired with a sophisticated full-time 4WD system featuring a Torsen limited-slip center differential and a dedicated low-range transfer case for serious off-roading. Whether you are towing a boat to the coast or crossing the Liwa dunes, the Crawl Control system and Multi-Terrain Select ensure you have maximum traction on sand, rock, and gravel.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the VXR offers a true 7-seat layout with leather upholstery and a four-zone climate control system specifically engineered to cool the large cabin quickly in 45°C+ temperatures. The front seats are both heated and ventilated, a critical feature for the region, while the center console features a factory-integrated refrigerator (cool box) to keep drinks chilled on long drives. Acoustic glass and extensive sound insulation ensure the cabin remains a quiet sanctuary even at high highway speeds across the desert.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive for the VXR trim, featuring a full suite of airbags including side curtain protection for all three rows and driver/passenger knee airbags. Active safety tech includes a Pre-Collision System, Adaptive Cruise Control for long highway stretches, and Blind Spot Monitoring, which is essential for the fast-moving, multi-lane traffic common in Dubai and Riyadh. The vehicle also employs A-TRAC (Active Traction Control) and Vehicle Stability Control to maintain composure on unpredictable surfaces like loose sand or wet tarmac.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who prioritizes mechanical immortality and top-tier V8 power, this lower-mileage VXR is a premier choice that will hold its value better than almost any other vehicle on the road.
