Audi weren’t going to rest easy until the RS3 was sitting pretty at the top of the hot hatchback pyramid, and they have succeeded with the 2016 RS3. Here we have a stunning second generation RS3 in an excellent choice of Nardo Grey with the black edition pack which comes with the RS3 black wheels and interior to match. The extra power extracted from the 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine makes even the likes of the last generation Porsche Cayman GTS running in fear to the RS3 purely on under-bonnet potency!
The RS3’s five-cylinder turbo charged engine returns impressive numbers – 362bhp from 5550-6800rpm and 343lb ft from 1625-5550rpm – and in general the car’s performance is exceptional! The 7-speed S-tronic twin-clutch gearbox swaps cogs cleanly and quickly in auto mode and in the manual setting using the paddle shifters it shifts rapidly. Plus, it makes a noise that harps back to the 5-cylinder Quattro rally cars if the past, it’s a real treat for any petrolhead!
At the back, the restyled bumper is more pronounced and features high-gloss black diffuser insert with honeycomb grille. A large roof spoiler and the RS3 badge on the tailgate tell those behind this is no ordinary hatchback. Being as RS model, it has wide-shouldered Nappa leather sports seats coming with RS embossing, as well as diamond stitching, these seats save 7kg per side compared with the standard ones, a thick-rimmed flat-bottomed steering wheel, alloy pedals and plenty of model-specific badging. The RS3 ticks all the usual boxes for a high-spec hot hatch!
