Chevrolet Cruze LT

Highlights

• 450 litres of boot space
• 10 airbags standard
• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This GCC-spec sedan is an ideal entry-point for road-aware buyers, combining an average annual mileage for its age with the region's preferred black exterior for strong resale potential. While many rivals opted for smaller turbocharged units, this Cruze uses a dependable 1.8L naturally aspirated engine that manages GCC summer heat with mechanical simplicity. As an LT trim, it steps up the daily driving experience over the base model with significant upgrades to cabin technology and driver convenience. It stands out in the compact segment for its substantial safety kit and grown-up interior feel that mimics larger Chevrolet sedans. Maintenance is straightforward across the UAE and wider GCC thanks to a dense network of authorized service centers and affordable parts availability.

This Car vs Other 2016 Cruzes

At 125,000 km, this vehicle has averaged roughly 15,600 km per year, which is well below the typical GCC annual average of 25,000 km. This lower-than-average usage often translates to better-preserved interior plastics and mechanical components. The black paint remains a top-tier choice for resale in the local used market, ensuring faster liquidity compared to niche colors.

LT vs Lower Trims

The LT trim provides a much-needed upgrade over the LS, featuring 16-inch alloy wheels and a six-speaker audio system as standard. GCC drivers will particularly appreciate the inclusion of cruise control and steering wheel-mounted audio buttons for long highway commutes between Emirates. It also adds LED daytime running lamps and heated power mirrors, which improve visibility during early morning fog or dust storms.

Cruze vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic, the Cruze offers a more robust 450-litre boot, providing superior cargo capacity for family grocery runs or weekend trips. Its standard inclusion of 10 airbags set a benchmark for the segment that many rivals of the same year only matched in their highest, most expensive specifications. The 1.8L powertrain is specifically favored in the region for its predictable performance in heavy stop-start urban traffic.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption typically settles around 7.5L to 8.5L/100km depending on how much time is spent in city traffic versus the open highway. Chevrolet’s authorized service footprint is extensive across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring that routine maintenance is never a logistical burden. While American sedans depreciate slightly faster than Japanese equivalents, this model maintains steady value into its second decade due to its reputation for cabin comfort and parts commonality.

Performance & Capability

The 1.8-litre engine delivers a smooth 139 horsepower, providing confident overtaking power on highways like the E11 without the complexity of a turbocharger. It reaches 100 km/h in approximately 10.1 seconds, offering a balanced and stable ride that feels planted at cruising speeds. The 6-speed automatic transmission is tuned for efficiency, keeping the engine in its optimal power band for both city crawls and inter-city drives.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for long-distance durability, featuring a supportive five-seat layout with an emphasis on ISOFIX safety for young families. The air conditioning system is famously powerful, ensuring the cabin remains chilled even when external temperatures exceed 45°C. Thoughtful touches like the sliding armrest and overhead courtesy lighting elevate the interior beyond typical budget sedan standards.

Safety

Safety is a primary pillar for the 2016 Cruze, coming standard with 10 airbags—a feat few in this class achieved. It includes StabiliTrak electronic stability control and traction control, which are vital for maintaining grip during sudden sand-on-tarmac situations or rare heavy rain. Four-wheel disc brakes provide consistent stopping power, supported by a reinforced steel safety cage for peace of mind on high-speed roads.

The bottom line

This listing is a perfect match for a small family or first-time buyer looking for a safe, well-maintained GCC-spec sedan that won't break the bank at the service center. Its below-average mileage and high safety spec make it one of the more logical compact sedans currently available in the UAE market.
